Thank you Tania, I too make my jump rings. Instead of hammer harden them, I put them in the tumbler. Saves my hands, ears, and time. Happy to see that you do have some help!!!. 🙏🏼💗💐

I love making my own jump rings. Letting the coils sit for a couple of days to give the wire time to adapt to the shape is something I have never thought about. I clip mine instead of sawing them, that is my lazy way.

I'm thinking that if you have a tumbler, that you could probably take your batches of coils and run them in the barrel for about an hour... That might save you on the time spent waiting for the "memory" of the wire to set... There are inexpensive tumblers out there for kids to start with... You'd also want to buy some steel shot as well... One more thing, if you tumble your coils, they'll come out polished and and shinier than you make like, but this can be remedied by patina-ing them with liver of sulfur... Or other various ways... Thanks for the tutorial, and I'll probably be heading out this weekend to get the saw and blades you mentioned... It will certainly save my jeweler's saw blades! Sorry for the long winded comment, thanks again, and I hope you and your family are well and safe! 🙏

Hi. Thanks! Is there another way to saw the coils without holding the coil? I'm sure I will saw my finger off before I cut through to make a few jumper rings. Also, I couldn't find the saw or the blades. Any suggestions on where to find them?

Hi 👋 I was curious on how you keep your coils from oxidizing when you store them? For all your wire actually? I have tarnish paper, but I’m always forgetting it or mislaying it lol (I really need to stop doing that! Aha!) I’m just wondering if there is another/better/easier way? Thank you for tutorial it was great and I learned a lot! Love, love, love your work! Especially the fact that it’s so organic! I wish I had the creativity that you do! You’re an inspiration to me!

I let them oxidize But each necklace or anything I finish I protect with ProtectaClear liquid, but I polish everything before i do it

@@4girlsjewelry thank you so much for that information! I did not know. I’m new to all of this! Shine first, then ProtectaClear liquid!!! Yay I love the name of that, I can see that being a valuable commodity to the work I’m sure! It’s great to know and I’m going to order some now. Do you have any tips on using that, that the directions do not tell you??? I also beadweave and I’ve been doing that for years. Never really have found anything that has turned out really good enough for me to stick with because they would just either not look right or be kind of chunky looking no matter what I tried. 😉

That is how I do my jump rings (holding to cut them) only I have always used a jewelers saw, it can be a bit delicate at times. I will check out about using this different type saw. Does it not leave a larger gap then a jewelers saw? Thank you for this video :)
@4girlsjewelry
@4girlsjewelry 2 жыл бұрын
I like, because that saw it’s not delicate, u can use little force It leaves a gap, I just tighten them

I use a jewelers saw and run some blue painters tape around half of the coil before sawing. It helps hold it together on the back while sawing.

I made my own jump rings from the hardest wire, but they can be easily twisted even though they were hammered. in your video you didn’t talk about tumbling, so I am curious how did you achieve the stronger jump rings?
@4girlsjewelry
@4girlsjewelry Жыл бұрын
I always leave coils for several days… wire have memory… then i do jump rings, the way I filmed, and i hammer each one individually for a bit, they are very strong after u hammer… but I use very light tapping, don’t go strong, better more tapping, which takes longer, but no harsh hammering, so u won’t destroy shape
@chythrag3123

Thank you for the reply and details. The memory part is new for me, I will try this method and see how it goes. I am quite a beginner, fascinated with your methods, you have great skills and I am watching your videos to learn, thanks for sharing your knowledge.

@@4girlsjewelry My pastor teacher just returned/escaped from the Ukraine 2 weeks ago. It was a horrible ordeal. We were all so very concerned that he would be ok. He travels there every year to teach at a bible school in Kiev. He helped others leave the country with him. It took days on the roads in Ukraine with helpful drivers and many hours of walking and being helped by people from other border countries. I have not personally experienced the horror of war, but my parents have. Thank you for coming to the USA. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful designs, you are so talented!
