Just installed 14 of these for a 91' run of fence. What didn't make sense to me was the top bracket attached by a single small screw. Seems like a major weakness to have the entire top rail of the fence system attached like that. I'm deciding now whether to use those or just attach the top rail to the posts the same as the lower rails. I really don't understand the reason for the detachable bracket at all, except maybe it kept their shipping costs down by keeping the boxes under 8' long? Otherwise a great product that seems really sturdy and in the end I think will make a great and long lasting fence.

I just got 2 Lifetime Steel posts delivered to build a test / demo fence section. I agree with the comment on the top bracket. The Lifetime Steel posts are beefy, and even wider than the postmaster+ (4.0" wide vs. 3.5"). They solid, and look built to last a "lifetime." However, that top rail attachment is janky. As a structures & materials engineer, I honestly can't figure out why on earth they did something so stupid. If I were to use it, I would drill out that set tiny set-screw hole and attach it with two 1/4-20 stainless steel bolts and nuts. For that alone, I think the Postmaster+ wins with its full 8' length.

Can these LIFETIME steel posts be installed with a post driver like competing POSTMASTER steel posts. If yes, please advise what post driver product and adapter can be used.

@@djinconroe From what I see online, the basic top profile of the Postmaster and Lifetime steel posts look pretty much the same. Are they really that different? (Maybe they had to be to avoid patent infringements....)
@djinconroe4 ай бұрын
@@thebordernow That "puck" shaped insert is different by a small amount. Just enough to prevent the LIFETIME posts from fitting into it. The insert only works with the POSTMASTER posts. I'm sure it was about avoiding patent violation. There is an available insert of the LIFETIME posts. We found it on Amazon and it works exactly like the same way. It's not a deal breaker. Just an extra cost for that chunk of steel.
