Jewish Bible and Christian Bible: what are the differences? The Jews called the set of holy books "sepharim" meaning "the books", with an important reference to verse 2 of chapter 9 of the book of Daniel.
The set of books in the New Testament was called "Scripture", or "Holy Scriptures" (Rom 1:2). The Church Fathers of the first two centuries used the same expressions but then one prevailed to indicate the set of books: Bible.
The Christian Bible is divided, from the earliest times of Christianity, into Old and New Testament. Christians divide the Old Testament into: Pentateuch, historical, wisdom and prophetic books. This division is derived from the Greek version of the LXX.
