The owner remembered you and spent about 30 minutes at our table laughing with us and taking history of our families and sharing a great meal. This small spot is a gem and $100 US for so much. Lots of love went into these dishes that are time consuming to make. He starts work at 4 AM and opens at noon. Food is fresh and tastes are amazing. We wil reurn on another trip. Thanks for the excellent videos are Israel. The food here, whether traditional or fusion, it off the hook. Be well! Eat well!

I have this great feeling of sadness when I think about it it’s like I’m nostalgic but I’ve never been. My family raised me to be proud of Babylonian heritage and I want to visit to put a place and land to my culture. We were there for 2500 years indigenous to Babylon and the land it is in my heart, soul and blood. One day I will visit and understand why my family was so proud to call themselves Iraqi and be from that beautiful land and culture. P.s. the best Iraqi Jewish dish is a Shabbat tibeet with that crunchy rice and a little Amba oof so delicious.

I'm so interested! I have been searching for these kibbeh type dumplings in the beet sauce and the yellow ones for almost ten years. This is the first time I am really seeing them, I had an woman from Iraq make them for me with some gorgeous fluffy rice - I am definitely visiting your channel. I hope it's in english :-)

Is it just jewish iraqis that make kuba inside of beetroof stew? I'm kurdish, but this is the first time I've seen kuba inside of beetroot or okra stew. we have okra stew, but we don't put the kuba inside. Also. why is there meatballs in the fasolia? its usually either chunks of meat or just fasolia. never seen meatballs.
@Tasty-Dishes7 жыл бұрын
Roz Sa Hi there, I am Chaldean/ Assyrian and we do cook Kubba with beets and other vegetables but not okra :). For the white bean I cook it with chunk meat with bone preferably but cooking stew meat require a lot of time so cooking it with meatballs is a quick method. I do it with potato curry for quick meal :).
@Baresi-Unico-Capitano7 жыл бұрын
We have lovely tomato based okra stew like we do it with meat or on its own, but never with kuba inside of it. The Kubba with beetroot is definitely a massive surprise. Mum gave a similar reasoning regarding the meatballs in the bean stew. She said that it could be when they moved, good quality meat chunks on the bone or otherwise might have been difficult to get / expensive. So meatballs are a cheaper alternative and yet still filling. It just doesn't look quite right though. The kuba with pumpkin / butternut squad chunks is also something I've not seen, but its a good alternative to potatoes.
