As the Israeli bombardment and invasion of the Gaza strip continues -- and militants continue to launch crude rockets into Israel -- there's relative quiet in the other Palestinian territory, the West Bank. With the conflict focused on the Hamas-run Gaza strip, it's easy to forget the West Bank used to be one of the focal points of resistance against the state of Israel. That may still be the case, but today in the West Bank, there are no rockets being fired into Israel and few demonstrations compared to Jerusalem.
Palestinian security forces, activists, and ordinary Palestinians say this could quickly change. VICE News brings you to the restive city of Hebron, which has historically supported Hamas, to find out if, how, and for how long things can stay this way.

Israelis feel threatened by nearly 40 years of attacks (by neighboring Arabic countries) and about 20 years of fighting against the local Arabic population. Israelis are just too scared to try and make an actual peace and Palestinians are too angry to want it. Their sons and daughters die by the hundreds for every Israeli killed, as the guy said its "guilty until proven innocent" for Palestinians.

Kevin Baughman it's not just that, HAMAS uses the people as a human shield but the Israelis don't care, they go in anyway. Israel and Palestine are two halfs of the same coin, about 50 years ago they lived side by side with no conflicts and no wars (wasn't until European Jew immigration after WWII) until the Muslims felt overwhelmed by the growing Jewish population. That was when the bordering Muslim states attacked Israel which then made the militarist zealot Israeli government we see today. The land doesn't belong to either side, it belongs to both, equally.

@@zuzoon437 Israel was a colonial effort. The break up came against agreements between Britain and the Arab, agreements that were signed before Balfour declaration. The law of return is strictly religious and doesn't take in account heritage, you can have 0 connection to the land and have 1 jewish grandparent and still be eligible for citizenship. If the law of return took in account heritage a lot of arabs would qualify. My family has roots back to the beginning of the 16th century and we have a village name after our family name, now that village is in israel, we have no rights whatsoever for it although the heritage is evident. So yeah law of return is not based on heritage. And saying pwned is so lame.

While I understand Israel is doing wrong lets look at the history of the major wars. In 1948 Arab nations declared war and invaded when it was days old and despite being on the brink they won. Then in 1967 Arab nations were plotting so Israel launched massive air attacks decimating the Egyptian and Syrian air forces and conquered the Sinai, West Bank, Gaza, and the Golan Heights. Then in 1973 Egypt and other Arab nations invaded yet again and had success at first yet Israel was victorious and still held the Sinai and even had a foothold in Egypt. So after all this Israel has given up Sinai and Gaza to try and have peace and is there? No.

The reason there is no solution is because of Israel’s constant bombardment of Gaza, raids on innocent civilians which prompts Hamas to act like the idiots the IDF is too. More than 80% of Gaza’s water is undrinkable due to a blockade on important supplies, they’re denied freedom of movement and because of a lack of food supplies coming in from across the border almost 50% suffer from anaemia.
