Lili Pohlmann really does not mention her own remarkable contributions and accomplishments throughout her lifetime, subsequent to regaining her freedom, as a very actively engaged Holocaust educator. Instead she describes others so vividly that one cannot help but get to know them. She offers brief moments which give only hints about her own courage and unforgettable determination. Lili lived until 2021, when she was 91 years of age. I'm thankful to be able to hear her testimony here.

Each one of these epic stories I watch I fall in love. They must all be gone by now so I'm profoundly grateful to whomever had the brilliant idea to record them while they still could.

She’s amazing and I’m grateful of the people who provided those opportunities for her after the war. This goes to show how much one person can do to help others. The amount of help exponentially grows with time as the better position one has from some help, only improves additional opportunities... but that is now a choice of the receiver.

I’m an amateur video editor. I’d like to take these and improve the video quality for you. Fix the volume and remove the gaps between the tapes. That sort of thing. I wouldn’t do it without permission, but you might find it useful.

I'm German on my mom's side. my great grandmother was a Weber from Heidelberg. 100% German. Dark curly hair. Not blond or blue eyes. I have blue eyes and Auburn hair. There are zillions of Germans who look like me. And of course I was raised wearing braids. So it's not so unusual that she passed as a German. Still anything could have happened! One slip. And they die. The Greek church was probably an Orthodox Church. She's mentioning a metropolitan. They belong to the Orthodox church.

First she says she'd no other names during her life, than after 3,5 hours she admits that she and her mother changed their names for some time shortly after the war, to less jewish ones. Small thing but isn't it strange? To m her story seems to be full of gaps and concealements.

Have you ever talked to older people? Actually, consider your childhood. How many details do you recall about it? It’s not as detailed a memory as you might think.

I'm Polish and if anybody wants to know: the word that this boy she was fascinated with in kindergarden told her to say out loud at the table during the family dinner is 'dupa'. It means as* in Polish. 🤣 And it was indeed scandalous in Poland, if a child, especially a girl from a good, middle-class home said such a thing at the table, eating dinner with her family. I admit, this story was hilarious but it is also sad because it shows that Jewish life in the majority was so normal and happy in Poland, before the apocalypse that was World War II or before the 30s really. Because this is when the wave of anti-semitism really started to rise in Europe.
