I’m a descendent of a 1930’s era Lithuanian Jew. He was a tight lipped man. We never found out about his before life until after his death. So this is more than I knew about his pre Canadian life. Thank you.

What an accurate, honest, balanced history! Only partially mentioned at the end about Vilnius, but for 700 years Lietuva was known as "the Jerusalem of the North" One of many reasons I am proud of my Lithuanian heritage! Samulevich here

Litvaks are part of our common Lithuanian history and we should be proud of that! Our then multicultural and multifaceted country was like a mosaic in which everyone had their own place. When we are angry with each other, the enemy uses this, when we are friends, he has no place to oppose us. Therefore, a Lithuanian, a Pole, a Jew, a Tatar, a Karaite, a Ukrainian, a Russian or a Belarusian, even an East Prussian German, is part of our mosaic. This is one fist for the common good, and without some part of the mosaic, our mosaic becomes incomplete and the picture loses its color❤

No mention of Al Jolson surely the most famous man born in Lithuania or the Lithuanian Jewish influence on Louis Armstrong.

Jews of Trakai were not actual Jews, they were Karaite. Real Jews appear in Trakai only in16th century, and Karaite were against them settling in the town as Karaite didn't want competitors.
