It's pretty mind boggling that Christians try to tell people of the Jewish faith how to interpret their own holy writings.

Oh man, that last part about John the Baptizer. When I first came to believe in G-d (started with Christianity), and was reading the New Testament, and read that John LITERALLY SAID HE WAS NOT ELIJAH, I was dumbfounded. Like, this is BASIC reading comprehension, and yet after 2,000 years of reading this text, Christians somehow just...ignore that? That John HIMSELF literally DENIED THAT HE WAS ELIJAH. I think the fact that 2,000 years have passed has made it “easier to believe,” because, like in my case, I figured, “Wow, well, there must be a really, really good case for why that doesn’t disqualify John from being Elijah. An argument that’s stayed strong for 2,000 years.” Turns out, no. It’s not even ambiguous. He straight-out denied it. How can you just ignore that? Why did *I* ignore that for so long...

I’m Jewish but Rabbi Skobac’s wonderfully enlightening lectures have not only reaffirmed my Jewish faith but have deepened my faith. The eminent scholar of Christianity Professor Bart Ehrman, author of the excellent book, “How Jesus Became God,” states that nowhere in the Hebrew Bible is the Messiah supposed to be crucified, tortured and publicly humiliated. He points out that the Messiah is a conquering hero who destroys the oppressors of the Jews BUT that Jesus, instead, WAS CONQUERED and destroyed by the Romans. The Jews knew.

no!!! you ar wrong!!! At the moment tht Abraham was about to offer Isaac a sacrifice to the Lord. A ram was provided to be sacrificed. So that passage cannot be referring to Isaac. So far, I have dealt with a bunch of arrogant people the vary descendants who crucified Jesus!!! Remember. Then Pontiffs Pilate asked the people what shall I do with your king?...the mob said crucify him!!! Tht is the word your people uttered!! But Jesus even in his suffering asked for their forgiveness. Can any Jew of the Judaic faith ever say that? To forgive anyone?? the Answer is no!!! because you believe an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth!!! The day will come!!! when all Jews will realize that Jesus was, and is their Messiah!!! so at the end, all is forgiven!! May the Lord open your eyes to the real truth!!!

What is important if you are hearing the Truth from the Lord Himself...all religions are man made and corrupt. That is why Jesus told us not to seek wisdom from man but ONLY from The Lord - see Matthew 23:8-10. If the listener or reader is ignorant they will not catch the missing elements of an impressive lecture that can completely twist the Truth and give you a lie. In Jeremiah 17:5 you are told that a person who depends on human strength or wisdom etc. is cursed. That includes depending on "pastors" or priests etc.

A lot of people seem to agree, except the ones that don't read Isaiah and Zechariah fully. For those, I ask the following: Was Jesus afflicted [as with sickness] as described in Isaiah, did he only receive but *a portion* among the great for being counted among the antagonists? Will Christians be the only unperished who are *refined in the Fire* as described by Zechariah, has God removed even Paul's prophets from the land that their own parents should or will *stab them* if they prophesy?

Thank you, I have always wondered, as a former catholic, why the religion of Christianity was created. I have also wondered why so many Christians claim this love and need for Jesus yet they themselves aren't Jewish like Jesus was. I understand that The Christian Bible is based on the Jewish version but it seems I cannot find the part where god demands a new religion to replace the one of Moses, Abraham etc. etc. . Any-hoot I am enjoying the videos and learning more. Thanks.

I can't believe that I myself bought into the Christian fairy tales. I have a masters in chemistry, but all that critical thinking and deductive logic went into the cognitive trash can, when they demanded I not question anything and rely on faith. No Christian source ever told me that Jesus didn't fulfill even one of the messianic prophecies. Hey, I want a refund! I'm so pleased that I've finally returned to my spiritual home of Judaism.

Rabbi Michael Skobac is right. If I had any doubt about adopting the collective concept of Messiah, Rabbi Skobac has cleared it for me. He has persuaded me that there is absolutely no difference between Messiah and the Anointed One of the Lord. That's what I needed to confirm my view of the collective concept of Messiah. Now, if we read Prophet Habakkuk 3:13, "The Lord goes forth to save His People; to save His Anointed One." That's what the Messiah is, the Anointed One of the Lord aka Israel, the Son of God. (Exodus 4:22,23)

Another important point about the Genealogy, irrespective of who Jesus' decendants were, the NT claims he was born of a Virgin and God therefore he has no possible claim to be Messiah becuase the Torah specifies this is passed through zera (seed, sperm) thus David is not his biological ancestor at all.

You as asking as if it will be impossible for G-d the restore the kingdom of David. The truth is that king David descendants are alive and well in our communities so the job of the messiah is to retore that kingdom!

Jesus was the perfect Messiah for the pagans at that time. The early founders (whom I believe were on the fringe of Jewish society) incorporated the trinity, (to appeal to their belief in multiple gods), they removed the commandments of circumcision, strict dietary guidelines and prayer multiple times per day. Best of all, the cross could be the visual emblum that they needed, rather than the invisible one G-d. There was no need for the Jews to accept Jesus as THEIR Messiah because they already knew that he did not fit any of the criterion prophesized in the Hebrew bible.

Great lecture. I'm not religious but I definitely believe in a Supreme Divine Creator of All Things. I have just 1 question: The Jews havn't had a monarchy for a long time now; yet the Messiah is supposed to come through the line of King David. So how is that to happen if you don't have a monarchy?

As a Christian I went along with and pretty much agree with the video, until about 2/3rds through. In other words, there is not such a disharmony between Michael Skobac's views and mine (up to that point!). Yes, there were many annointed ones or Meshiacs, there is no problem at all there. From a Christian perspective, all the meshiacs are forerunners and types leading up to the emergence of a promised Messiah which Michael Skobac later tries to describe for the 'messianic age'. However, one glaringly obvious ommission here is how G-d is going to bring the knowledge of G-d to all the world? Certainly as a continuing Jewish nation, Israel has not, and on its own is unlikely to ever accomplish such a thing. While Rabbi Michael Skobac retells the old Jewish story, what needs to be realised is that while G-d agrees with this story, G-d is much bigger than the Jew's story. The reason Jesus came, was to offer his message and himself to the Jews, even though he knew that most Jews would deny and reject him. This is all anticipated in the Jewish Bible before Jesus came. However, Jesus had to present himself to the Jewish people. The fact that just as Jesus prophesied, the Temple would be destroyed not long after his lifetime and all sacrifices in the sacrificial system would stop for the next 2000 yrs, while the message of the Jewish Jesus and his gospel about G-d would be spread throughout the entire world, is testimony in itself that the sacrificial system had been stopped by G-d because Jesus's sacrifice was the closing sacrifice for the next 2000 years....until as Jesus prophesied, the "Times of the fullness of the Gentiles had come in" (meaning that until as many of the people of the nations had received and believed the Jewish Jesus's message....then Israel would again be restored and the Jewish people will again be restored in their fellowship with G-d and follow the Torah and know G-d each for themselves....and then be united in faith with the people of the world to know, love and serve G-d. One point the Rabbi brings up at the end about "turning the hearts of the fathers to the children and the children to the father's" should be interpreted as meaning the "children" (that is the Children of Israel), will have their hearts turned (or returned) towards the faith of their ancestors (and the patriarchs). In other words return to the faith of the Torah and G-d. John the Baptiser did this in calling the people of Israel to come and repent and Return to G-d. This is the actual meaning of the text. It has nothing to do with literal "children" and literal "fathers". However, the video was very interesting! Thanks for sharing it.

There are some who claim lineage to King David, especially in the Yemenite community. However, I think the big concepts the Prophets stress over and over again are what matter most. Rebuilding the Temple, universal knowledge of God, charity, and a few other things.

I'm so in the same place you are that I actually teach Torah now. Mostly for the learning, and teaching is the best vehicle for learning. I'm not sure I'm very good at it but I will give my utmost to Him. What bothers me about Paul is that there are not more witnesses to what he says. We can only accept teaching on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Much of what he taught stands alone. And so I Amein your comment, when in doubt, go back to Torah.

Anciano Deacon Paul said in Philippians chapter 3 (kjv) Though I might have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more; Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness wich is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord; for whom I have sufferd the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, wich is of the law, but that wich is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness wich is of God by faith. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship if his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death. If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.(kjv)

You are wrong because Jesus was not a physical descendant of King Solomon. The Messiah must be a physical member of the tribe of Judah (Gen. 49:10) and a direct descendant of King David and also of King Solomon (2 Sam. 7:12-14; 1 Chron. 22:9-10). Genealogy in the Bible is only passed down from father to son (Num. 1:1-18). There’s no evidence that Jesus had this pedigree, and the Christian Bible actually claims that he did NOT have a “birth-father” from the tribe of Judah descending from King David and King Solomon (Mat. 1:18-20). Please see jewsforjudaism.ca/why-jesus-is-not-the-jewish-messiah/ NOTE: Adoption is not an option. So, please show us where we are mistaken.

Exhaustive, Clear, Consistent, and Empirically verifiable: are three basic and important points in the this lecture but Rabbi has breached these basics as most of the bibles "if not all of them" were written hundred years after Jesus the son of Mary, accordingly it is not exactly typical the words of God.
