@@dksjdhrdjsndn4067 it looked like KZbin deleted my first comment, so I made it again. It's not rocket science lawl. clearly you lack critical thinking capacity. your response is L logic lol. pilots are expected to use proper radio coms, even while on approach, final, etc. it's part of the job, for safety. you clearly don't understand why it matters for the pilot to state his callsign with every readback, and u clearly don't understand why atc wants him to and makes him go around over it. I'm on JFK's side this time. For legality he cannot release a plane from IFR separation if they are not properly identified. Yes, he probably knew who was talking but these procedures exist for a reason and becoming relaxed with them sets a dangerous precedent.

absolute nonsense. forcing an aircraft do a go-around as a punishment is completely unacceptable. yes callsign readbacks are important but there was ZERO ambiguity in this situation.

easy for you to say, if something went wrong with either the landing or passengers on board or anything and an investigation is launched, who do you think is now also on the hook for that? oh right, the ATC who knowingly disregarded procedure.

@@kdflf Which would have been prevented entirely if the pilot followed procedure. Not sure why you want to switch the blame to someone who is following the rules and holding a rule breaking pilot accountable for their actions? If the rule was unnecessary it wouldn't be in place, and if it was no longer relevant, they will remove it. I don't understand how people think that because they disagree with a rule that means they don't have to follow it and there should be no consequences for knowingly breaking a rule.

I'll say this, obviously the Kuwaiti pilots should've been better in using their callsign, but ATC clearly knew who he was talking to, and he already said cleared to land, which the Kuwaiti pilots acknowledged properly. At the stage, pilots are very busy, and ATC started talking way too much unnecessarily after already clearing them to land. He even told them to reduce minimum speed, which Kuwaiti also acknowledged properly. ATC then kept talking way too much, and created a situation and go around for no reason. This is an example of an ATC who's trying to make the pilot's life as hard as possible just cause he was bored.

Actually, no, in this case the controller is required to get a confirmation with callsign. Reason being, the controller is trying to shift to visual separation rules (likely because the Kuwati aircraft was getting too close to the traffic ahead to maintain IFR separation). So the controller needs a positive confirmation from the aircraft that he'll maintain visual separation but that has to include the callsign for it to be legal. So since he couldn't get the callsign from him to transfer to visual separation, he had to have him go around to avoid a loss of IFR separation.

@normannutbar4242 күн бұрын
Classic JFK arrogance! There absolutely should have been more efforts to explain that the read back of the callsign is required. The term that ATC should have used was “use standard phraseology”. Given that ATC’s ultimate role is to increase safety, I think that sending a heavy aircraft around on what is nothing more than a ‘punishment lap’ is outright irresponsible. If this crew are indeed struggling, (which ATC are alleging), then a missed approach is only going to increase their workload.

They weren't complying and weren't communicating properly that they were able to positively maintain visual separation. If something went wrong and the controller hadn't intervened as he did, the controller would share blame. Because the pilot wasn't using appropriate terms, the controller made them go around and try again. Nothing to do with ego. The pilot is a professional and should know better than to use improper terminology.
@iridiumcaptain7 күн бұрын
Looking at other comments you've made, you seem to have something against ATC in general. If you're a pilot, I hope you drop that bias. Some controllers have egos, are rude, and are unprofessional, but this is not an example of such a case.

I would recommend if you're a pilot you take a listen to Opposing Bases.
