Kudos to the designer. Great work on the narrative, and the missions are playing out along. Very cool.

Glad you are enjoying it. We will finish with the Stalingrad operation in the next one and then it will be goodbye to ice and snow and hello to sun and sand. That’s, if JG 9 lives to fight another day! Stay tuned

I see parallels to the mythical Black Sheep squadron.

Absolutely, it’s a good story and was told well. Similar stories are equally popular round the world and through history, 47 Ronin, Inglorious basterds, Dirty Dozen, 300 Spartans, Sharpes Rifles, the French Foreign Legion. I guess it captures the imagination. I’ll try to keep the episodes interesting and challenging!

Completely agree! We are missing the pacific warbirds, the Russian and Italian warbirds, and many US and European ones. I hope we get some momentum going to some more WW2 modules!

Hi all Aviators!!! I wanted to mention the good job Cap did as wingman particulary not shooting at the back of leader, most have target fascination & shoots even when leader is at the 6 of bandit.

I've watched videos about tail-dragger takeoffs. Isn't the key to "fly the tail" before rotating? Stick forward to get the tail off the ground as early as possible, this provides both 1) visibility and 2) rudder authority prior to rotation. Maybe this is way harder than GR's "pucker and pray" technique? Either way, always a joy to watch!

I have an idea for you. What would a naval engagement being like in the 82 Falklands War, if the Belgrano had not been sunk, the sub told not to attack, until it had fired on UK forces, or gone within the restricted zone. Also, the Home Fleet Vs Britain's modern carrier group.

I do believe some GR pilots need some additions tail dragger take off and landing training. Some shaky moves there boys. But I sympathize. I try flying the T-51 in DCS and it's painful.

Agree, GR members really struggling with warbirds at moment for some reason.
@bypass26322 жыл бұрын
I understand it seems that way, but I’ve been really pleased with how members are brave enough to try jumping into some of their lesser flown warbirds, just to participate in this campaign. I’ll make sure to throw something unexpected at them in every mission 🤣

Step by step, mission by mission, I’ll get the boys there eventually 🤣 we take on ADF Navigation in the next mission and things are just beginning in this campaign. By the end of the ww2 marathon i have planned for them, the lads will be naturals (Don’t tell Cap though)

@@bypass2632 Sounds good. It's surprisingly hard for most people to look at a map and compare it to what they see around them which is the obvious issue here. On the other hand, I get that reading a map is hard and even risky in a close formation setting. Flight lead can afford to glance for a few seconds at a time which is just about enough but wingmen simply can't follow where they are going without a serious amount of preparation and practice. I will maintain a strict confidentiality policy.

Hey Cap, I was watching on my phone and trying to understand why you were flying at such an odd angle with your port wing down 30 degrees. Then I realized it was my phone that was pitched over and you were flying mostly level the last 5 minutes. Does that make me an honorary member of the reapers?!? ;-)

I can understand a fascination with U-Boats, in World War 2...but Why this fascination with the Russian Front? I know nothing of JG 9, but it sounds like it is just another Russian Front campaign. I admit to being a chauvinistic American, who prefers to see Western Front campaigns.
@bypass26322 жыл бұрын
No fascination, JG 9 will be flying in all theatres and against all foes by the time I’m finished with them! I got interested in the luftwaffe story because after 1942 they were more and more outnumbered and fighting a losing battle, i though it make good narrative. We’re on to the Med next to take on the RAF and RN (top secret still). I make missions from all sides and points of view to use all the airplanes available in dcs. I have made lots of US centric missions and will make more in future so if you stick around I’m sure you’ll find something you like.

I don’t see the point of using non-authentic aircraft on either side. Spitfire Mosquito Mustang in German colors?! The performance differences are too variable among your aircraft on both sides. P47s in Russian colors? Bah! Also why are there so many crashes on take off? Are your ppl that flakey or is there some server/software issue?
