6:57 For help with the algebraic manipulations: Based on the first equation, substitute (AI + AR) for AT in the 2nd equation and then solve for AR. Likewise, solve for AR in the first equation and substitute that for AR in the 2nd equation and then solve for AT.

k1 - k2 is equal to v2 - v1? not v1-v2?

at 4:06 I didnt understand how you deduced that the omega's are equal
@jg3947 жыл бұрын
I vaguely recall struggling with how to explain this. Basically, omega says how fast the wave is wiggling back and forth. If they don't wiggle at the same rate at the boundary, then you can never find a solution that will satisfy the condition that they must be equal at the boundary. Imagine you're waving a rope, and on one side, the rope is thin, and the other side the rope is fat. Even though the wave velocities are different, where the two kinds of rope meet, they must wiggle at the same rate, otherwise the rope would be cut.

Your videos are helping a lot .but plss explain in simple language
@jg3946 жыл бұрын
Ehh... I don't know how to simplify this. Am I talking too fast? What words are you unfamiliar with? I know that English is a tough barrier, especially because my American accent isn't very common in academia. If there's a particular section in the video that is hard to understand -- point it out I can improve and do better next time, or perhaps explain it here.
