I got the wife a Majohn A2. She really likes it. Doodlebud found the same off center problem with the Jinhao pen he reviewed. Seems like this is a manufacturing flaw.

I've been lucky, as mine is aligned. But for two reviewers (out of two I've seen so far) to have wonky ones tells me Jinhao's QC Dept is dropping the ball.

Got the metallic red and silver version and I love it. It writes just as well as my vanishing point with gold nib. For the price I think the build quality is good. No issues with pen ,loving it so far!

had mine in white and wow is it smooth! maybe a bit too heavy for me but glad i figured that out before going for the pilot. im told the offset nib is to account for holding the pen with index againt the clip, im still a bit lost on how to exactly position my hand writing with it

Thanks for a good close look at the Jinhao 10, James. I have one en route via AliExpress, but I should still remember your comments by the time it arrives, and will let you know of any unexpected challenges to the pen. I too wonder about durability. My Jinhaos always have written well; but I had the paint bubble off the cap of an 8802 once; and the other week I reached into my pocket to pull out an x159, and only the finial of the cap came. Oh, no! Then just the clip! Oh, no! The nurse waiting for me to take a note thought it very funny. The flange on the stem of the finial had broken off. I've only had the pen a few months. Super glue did an okay repair, but now I only use the pen at my desk. Writes too well to get rid of it.
@JG3Reviews2 ай бұрын
That's a shame about the x159, but I know what you mean about its writing. I'm hoping the 10 proves durable, because it's definitely growing on me.
@hillbillyhistory42279 күн бұрын
I have three x159s glued together in different places. Shit bodies but wonderful nibs. Not bad for $5. Still daily the glue ha ha ha. Even though I have nicer pens that sit.

I have 3 Majohn A1 and a Pilot VP with the clip a bit off to the right which works great for me. It's my perfectly imperfect VP.

Hi, is Jinhao 10's body made of metal or plastic? Can you please confirm. My Majohn A2 plastic body cracked at the middle ring within a month.

Hate to hear that about the A2. Yes, the Jinhao is a metal pen.

It is a nice pen. I do have the A1 which is a very good pen. I bought it because the A1 has a roll stop version, not a clip. I cannot is the clip version due to the grip I use and interferes with my grip. As you mentioned the lack of a clip less version for the Pilot Vanishing Point is why I chose the A1. If Jinhao came out with a clipless version, I would get it for sure. Excellent review, James.

I pulled the trigger on a white one - the quality (to me) feels a little better than the Majohn A1 or A2, though there's not a lot in it. Definitely worth the investment!
@brettsmith16553 ай бұрын
Agreed. I don't have the off center nib problem like Doodlebud and JG3. The click of the JinHao 10 is a lot smoother than any of the 3 Majohn A1 pens that I own, too. The nib is as good or better than the Majohn pens. The one place where Majohn is an easy winner is nib dryout. I can get 7+ days of non use out of my Majohn pens but 4 days really pushes it with the JinHao. Overall, there's room for both. I owned 2 Pilot VPs and was so dissappointed in both that I sold them shortly after purchasing them. For under $30 these pens are great, though.

I have 2 Pilot Vanishing Points and 2 Majohn A1s and I love all 4 equally! No issues.
@wanyman3 ай бұрын
Wow, the cut between the pilot and the majohn in the beginning where you are showing the nibs was almost seemless! It confused me at first because you were holding a Pilot which then just became a Majohn. The magic of filmmaking!

Hopefully Jinhao has their quality control on point, especially as one of there more "expensive" pens. I have 3 Jinhao 80s and one of them never wrote properly, even with tuning. I loved my Majohn A1 until I broke the trap door, it somehow got on the wrong side of the spring that closes it, good luck fixing that. This looks like another nice intro to the VP style capless, but would have been nice to see something a little different. Navalur has shown you can try something a little different with their Eclipse, even when using VP style innards.

I have two A1s, and switched the nibs as soon as I could. My Jinhao 10 has a much better nib, but I don't like Fines generally, so it will be changed in due course.

The A1 its an amazing pen, if this Jinhao cam match it they did a good job in my opinion.
@SteveTrainer999Ай бұрын
A few points. My red one came today. 1. The f nib is MUCH better than any of my A1s or A2s, including the Majohn fine. 2. The finish is excellent and the red is deep and quite nice. 3. The Jinhao nib unit DOES fit in the A2 - the pilots do not. I have 4 Majohn capless pens (2 A1 and 2 A2). Two of them (one each A1 and A2) dry out within a couple of weeks. If the Jinhao doesn’t, that plus the much smoother nib makes it, for me, superior to the majohns
@JG3ReviewsАй бұрын
I have to say, as mine has broken in, it has gotten even better. I like the F nib quite a bit. I may have to pick up one of the lacquered pens at some point.

Sorry to hear that, but thanks for the feedback. It helps to get a cross-section of experience. You may have already done this, but if not, here's a link to good info on improving a scratchy nib: www.gouletpens.com/blogs/fountain-pen-blog/troubeshooting-your-fountain-pen-an-unclear-guide I found this helpful when I got my first scratchy nib. Good tips.

I'm itching to buy this jinhao but I'll have to wait a little longer. For us Brazilians, this pen costs 29.95 USD because of the import taxes imposed by the current government. Does this F pen write like the F pen in the Jinhao 100?
