Cool video and cool pen! I like that shade of green.

Pocket pen usage over the years has changed. What we today think of as a "ladies ringtop" quite easily could have been bought for use on a watch chain. And though I have yet to run across any of these that don't post well, who'd try to use it on a chain or ribbon? So, short was definitely a thing. Of course, like the Lilliput, they'd be more for quick notes and signature use. 😁 So, I guess I agree with you on the criteria. 😉

love the fountain pen nascar comment. As a professor, I've long said I'll put patches on my jacket--I'd be happy to have a Visconti elbow patch or Leonardo Momento.

"The Pen Habit" reviewed the Kaweco Lilliput 6 years ago, your review kind-of reminded me of that! Wonderful review as always. I wonder what Matt is doing now a days!

I have the brass liliput With an F nib. I like it. I hope to get the gravitas pocket pen soon.

Despite its flaws, I love my brass liliput. It may not necessarily be my best writer and the Kaweco sport might be quicker to deploy, but I trust the liliput the most. If there was a war or an apocalypse, that’s the one pen I would bring 😂

Lucky dog! Every Kaweco steel nib I've had need some tweaking/ smoothing/adjusting out of the box -- but then I got to liking 'em. I find this pretty thin, if attractive but I couldn't see it really replacing my Diplomat Traveler (also thin) or Pilot E-95S. Looking forward to your review of the Gravitas pocket pen. I just got my first Gravitas ("Big Dipper") and absolutely love it!

I bought a Sport classic 5years ago. The nib was so bad that i didn’t touch any fountainpen for years. I recently bought a liliput and a AL sport plus replacement nibs in different sices as well as one for my „old“ sort classic. All of them (M for the plastic one, EF, M, B, BB for the metal ones) write super smooth. No hard starts, no cutouts, no scratching on the paper.

Great review of a gorgeous pen. I love pocket fountain pens, and I have three different Liliputs, but the fountain pen that I’m most likely to have in my pocket is a Traveler’s Company Brass fountain pen. I don’t worry about it getting dinged up or scratched in my pocket - that just seems to add to its good looks. The friction fit cap means it is quickly ready to write when I need it.

I haven't used the Traveler's, but I can see the appeal.

I agree, the travelers is the same price for a brass, quicker draw fp, liliput doesnt compare imo. God bless!

So... Half way through your review I read your description, googled the Green Liliput, and went to Appelboom and ordered it. And then watched the rest of your review. Significant price break! Thank you!

Enjoy it! Yes, it was a good break compared to the others I shopped.

Great review, James. It's a beautiful pen, but the lack of any converter that will fit it plus it's price, are the deal breakers for me. No offense intended to those who choose otherwise. That's just me. God bless.

What a cutie of a pen! I had to get one early on. The light weight meant that I lived in fear of losing this expensive little bit from my pocket. I also have an Ensso Minimalist XS that did precisely that, fell out and was finally located. But I agree that they write nicely.
@JG3Reviews8 ай бұрын
I can see that. I won't carry it in some pants pockets because I figure if a quarter can slip out unnoticed, the Liliput can, too.

My Go-To pocket fountain pen is the Pilot E-95S and the Monteverde Ritma Pocket Pen. Both are fairly affordable and are great quality. The Ritma can also utilize the #5 Omni flex nib.

I’ve been intrigued by the brass or copper Lilliput for years now, but have been hesitant to pull the trigger for all the reasons you mention. May look closer at the sport in those materials. Shout out to the space pen bullet. I have a brass one which lives in my pocket and it truck, and a black one that is my toolbox pen. Right tool for the job! God bless.

Just discovered your channel while looking up this pen, and this is a lovely video. I got to handle one of these at a pen show last month and am still thinking about how interesting it is. I also got to see the fire blued steel edition, and that is a cool looking pen.

I have a grey Kaweco sport with a medium nib and a silver pocket clip. Takes standard international short cartridges.

I got an aluminum Kaweco Liliput with a black finish a long time ago. I also got a clip for it. Unfortunately, I don't use it often. The most likely reason for this, though, is that I got it fairly early in my making a hobby of collecting fountain pens, and I've just had too many new shiny things to play with and too many pens inked up, so it kind of got shuttled to the shelf out of the way and I just haven't made a point of getting it out to write with. I do recall wanting to get the stainless steel Liliput, because the aluminum just doesn't feel "substantial" in my hand, and it was so light it wasn't that comfortable for me to write with because I felt like I had to push it down onto the paper, rather than let the weight of the pen itself carry the job of putting down the ink. I thought perhaps the steel version (or the Fireblue or brass or copper) would help that sensation. Oh, but I'm definitely not into the green color of this special edition! lol

Thanks for the review! It's a bit small for me. I carry my DeLike Brass all the time, I like the ability to use the cartridge converter. (Mine has a bit more patina than yours. 🙂 ) I have Gravitas pocket pen in copper on order and that is a cartridge only pen also. I am looking forward to your review on that one!

I can't believe my Delike doesn't show more wear. It's the least cared for pen I own, but doesn't show it. And reliable as the day is long.

Nice little pen. But as a lover of minimalistic design, I am put off by the little step down from the cap, whether capped OR posted. Should be like the Muji, which both caps and posts absolutely flush to the barrel, at a fraction of the cost. My favorite pocket pen is the Sailor Pro Gear Mini. I am charmed by its stumpy profile, appreciated the range of colors, and love the nib.
@JG3Reviews2 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised the SPG Mini doesn't get more attention. It seems to fly under the radar.

Well, it's more overpriced than the competition.

God bless you James! Have you seen the Luoshi Cigarette Pen? Its about $11 for a 2 pack, THAT is prolly the smallest non-vintage fountain pen i've ever seen/bought, definitely worth a look. Not for being in your 5th pocket though, the threads dont hold too well before breaking off the cap, but i'd love to see a review since you like chinese FP's. The Liliput just doesn't compare to the Traveler's Brass Pen, Gravitas Pocket Pen or Kaweco Sport. The travelers is easier at the readiness and sturdier than aluminum, the gravitas is sturdier and smoother threads, and the sport is less threads and more at the ready. you have too many other options for the liliput to be a contender imo.

Rob, I could have sworn I responded to this comment. I remember having that on a shopping list...somewhere...maybe AliExpress? I may have to search that one back out again. I'm getting the impression I also need to give a second look at the Traveler's. I can't remember why I crossed it off my list a while back.

@@JG3Reviews Travelers Brass Pen is bar none my favorite pocket pen; partially because sentimentally as my oldest pocket pen, but also for the reasons i laid out last comment: sturdy body, reliably smooth nib, fast deploy, ultra portable, etc. God bless! PS i also encourage you to at least try the Luoshi Cig pen at least for laughs!

Why not just cut and refused the stem of the plunger. You could just use a bit of thread to pull it all the way out and still use it.

I recently bought the black Liliput which is the most affordable of Liliput family. But I was underwhelmed by its look and feel. It’s certainly overpriced at 70 USD which itself was a discounted price here in India when I bought it. My pocket FP count is 18 now and this is the most expensive, but not the most favorite pen. Pocket Pens from Delike, Moonman, Ohto etc.. offer much better VFM than a Liliput.
@JG3Reviews2 жыл бұрын
At $70US, I'm out, and I do like the pen. I think I got a particularly well-tuned nib. I agree that there are many great VFM options out there.

It is just too thin and the amount of turns to take off the cap is a, well, a turn off.
