my system wanted an administrative password i didnt know. Is it bad that i couldnt change the floppy disk setting?

You can leave it alone -- you might just get an error message at startup. However, there's probably a blue jumper on the motherboard with a label of PWD next to it that you can pull out and it will remove the administrator password for you.
