Willy was born in Krakow, Poland in 1923.
After the war started, he was forced into unpaid labour by the Nazis.
When the Jews were forced into a ghetto, Willy's family moved to Myslenice where his grandmother lived. By 1942 Willy was sent to work in a nearby labour camp. Soon after, the rest of his family was murdered in Belzec extermination camp.
Willy was sent to other camps where he worked hard and was brutalised by the guards, before arriving in Auschwitz. From there he endured further torture and when he was finally liberated he was barely alive, 180cm tall but weighing only 38 kgs.

My 14 yo niece said in school 99 percent of the curriculum in history class is black history. I almost threw up with anger when I heard that

99% of history taught was black history at that school?? I don’t believe that for a minute. Unfortunately the USA schools have never taught enough about the holocaust. But they don’t teach much black history either.

Amazing survival testimony from Mr. Lermer, with a beautiful message about tolerance for your fellow man at the end. Holocaust studies should be MANDATORY in schools. I feel the US high school history curriculum, just breezes over the topic. The world must learn. History travels in a circle...not a line. We are losing Shoah survivors - and the Greatest Generation. They will be gone soon. It is pur responsibility to teach new generations. This horrific time must never be forgotten. 🙏

Wild beasts don't descend to these levels...we can't call it bestiality.....It's pure evil, cruelty on a daily basis just below the surface, (even now in abattoirs). And waiting to emerge should conditions make it possible.....we can always strive to be better souls, it's one thing worth achieving in life. The collective psyche of nations is deficient in compassion, for all mankind...for animals too.

As of today, May 8th, 2024 many people have totally forgotten what happened in Europe starting in 1933. Never forget has fallen on death ears. I am so sorry for what is happened. I am a Catholic gentile, and my heart blades for the Jewish people, and Israel.

Agreed let's *not* hate. But "big enough" ????? I've worked, gone to school, lived in small apartments in USA cities all my life. Very few vacations. Not much money. You have no idea how sick-n-tired i am of being surrounded by other people who care only for themselves. I may as well be in a desert or on the moon. I was born in Germany 1949. Do you think God is punishing me for the sins of my parents ??? It surely feels that way. I hate humanity.

Thank you so much for sharing with me an infamous fragment of the Hitler's Nazi horrendous regimen. It must be a very sad sad odyssey to recount it. The crimes and cruelties committed against my sons and daughters, my fathers and mothers, my brothers and sisters hurt me deeply, regardless their ethnicity and nationality. In Isaiah 2: 4, Jehovah God, the Creator and Source of life, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, promises: "He will be judge among the nations and will settle matters in relation to many peoples. They will turn their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. The nations will no longer raise their swords against each other and learn no more to wage war." My immediate neighbors are Jews and I am a Jehovah's Witness. Their hearts are superior than pure gold by far. They are extremely kind. The gentleman takes care of my trash can every Wednesday without my asking him to do so. They are lovely human beings, and they are not in need of the smallest improvement.

That's something that's always nawed at me, the Nazis were murdering people enmass that's above reproach, so why did they bother with doctors hospitals convalescing etc. I don't understand the reason for it

Most of what the Nazi believed was illogical nonsense. Why bothering trying to hide the camp with forced marching? At that point logic would dictate flee and hide.

Dog soup, made with snow, salt off the floor and cheese?? Complete nonsense
@djholliday5132
@djholliday5132 Жыл бұрын
Auschwitz fed prisoners warm, dirty water and called it "coffee". The bread had sawdust in it. The "soup" was water with rutabaga, grass, & God knows what else. Concentration camp inmates were starved for YEARS. What is nonsense about starving people eating dog?? Russian POW's resorted to cannibalism! When inmates were liberated from death marches...they ate dead horses off the road, they were so starved & emaciated. Educate yourself more about what the Nazis inflicted.

@@Maggie-rr8gi I still don't believe him. He wouldn't be the first to lie about what happened. So where was the dog? Just walking around? It would have gone unnoticed that a dog would have been killed, prepared and eaten?
