Wish we would get a more Mark Bagley styled heads. So much of the 90s spiderman comics was done by him, especially the Maximum Carnage saga. I understand Todd created him but in my mind Mark's work sticks out in my head first.

I played with the real retro venom over 30 years ago. He had fixed arms and his hands were flat out like a zombie but he was big like early venom comics. I played with him until his paint wore off

Honestly, I was on the fence about this one. The Spiderman Retro figures are the only ones I keep Mint On Card, so I was definitely in for one, but wasn’t sure if I really needed a second one to open. I’ve been a huge Venom fan since I was a kid, so I’m glad to see this one turned out decently well. The King in Black Venom is probably going to remain my definitive Venom on my shelf, but this video makes me look forward to getting this version in hand.

If you make a cut at the back of the neck with an xacto knife like the scarlet spider, the range of up movement is really increased

Leave it to J to provide all the details we need when it comes to figures. This Venom looks amazing! Definitely an upgrade from the 3 Pack Venom. Hell, the more durable white paint is enough reason for me to buy this. I was always hesitant to mess with the 3 Pack one because of potential paint chipping. The torso on this Venom also seems to have a larger spider/dragon symbol on the chest, which is especially better on the back. I believe there is more chest to back ratio on this buck, too, since the Omega Red mould was a little slim in that regard. My only issues with this figure is that the head seems too high up on the body, and the arms may be a tad bit too long. Something about this new torso seems to make this more apparent. Still, that stuff won't really matter when Venom's not in a vanilla pose. Overall, incredible! ^^

Awesome video like always. The neck thing is all Hasbros fault. The double ball peg is the go to for necks, they just keep doing it wrong on the engineering side. The jada toys Ryu and fei long are the perfect examples of how its supposed to be done. It really isnt hard to get right.

Best “regular size” Venom imo. The Knull two pack and the one from the three pack weren’t it for me. This is the best one articulation, colors and accessories wise. Sure more accessories would have better but it has enough. 👍

I prefer the dumbbell joint in the neck. Don't get me wrong, Hasbro doesnt do it very well, but i really value the ability of a figure to look sideways and still have their neck straight, because 9/10 times on your shelf, they're not going to be looking straight forward. You don't get that with the disc hinge.

The double ball joint is a superior joint to the swivel hinge. Unfortunately Hasbro does not know how to do a double ball jointed neck, so we're stuck with new and amazing figures with mediocre head range.

I read a while back that the double ball joints aren’t that great because of safety regulations. Apparently the joint has to be a certain depth within the body, otherwise it can’t be sold to younger audiences. That’s why the range isn’t great. I’m not sure if it’s accurate or not but it would explain it, so I’ve gone with that as an explanation ever since I first read about it.

⁠@@SlicedNugget That’s a lie from the marvel team. If that were the case, then the Black Series figures would have the same problem, but those figures have incredible head and neck range. I think it’s because placing it deeper in the head keeps the QC under control, which is very important when you consider how many Marvel figures Hasbro produces in comparison to their other lines.
