Joe, Could you advise stitching pony for beginners? please and the mm of pricking irons
@JHLeather3 жыл бұрын
Heya, I like the saddlers clams from Abbey England : www.abbeyengland.com/saddlers-clams-best-7357.html you can so get some desk mounted clams from a company called Dream Factory Tools. The stitching irons I recommend are wither a 7 stitches per inch or an 8 stitches per inch iron.

@@JHLeather Many thanks, I'm looking at the link now, I wonder if after Brexit they work with the Netherlands where I live at the moment.

I think they still do international shipping. Pop them an email and see what they say

Always a pleasure to watch these videos. Do you ever use hidden magnets on these types of items? I would be interested in seeing how you incorporated them.

I'm still not sure why you use the Awl to stitch sometimes, and others not. Why do you go through all the way with your chisel sometimes but not others?? And what is your thread made of generally?Thanks 🙂🌸
@JHLeather2 жыл бұрын
So it depends on what I am making, if the leather is thin then my markers can go all the way through. I am used to using an awl so it's like second nature for me to use one.

I really like these. 👍 is that veg tan leather you're using? I didn't think you could burnish chrome tan, but that leather looks pretty supple.
@JHLeather3 жыл бұрын
Yes it veg tanned, it's a distressed hide so it's really nice a supple 👍
