@@jasoniic Got a question, I've read reviews on the magnaflow catback, and found that a lot of people are complaining about drone with the magnaflow system on these models. Has this been an issue for you? If so how bad was the drone? What about when you deleted the mufflers, did this make it worse? Would appreciate your input on this, as if the drone is a big problem then I would be turned off on the idea of getting this setup :/
@jasoniic Жыл бұрын
Can totally agree with that! The second setup would suit most people very well. I’m just a bit of a lunatic, which prompted me to do the other setups.
@jasoniic Жыл бұрын
I remember *hating* my magnaflow system when I first had it, because it washed away all of the tone and character that the stock system had - to me, it sounded more boring. It was just deep but not even loud. And yes, I only knew I had an exhaust because of the drone. Deleting the rear mufflers made everything so much better. It was less droney somehow, while making the car sound so much more exotic to listen to. I’d recommend AWE Track to others, as it’s just like buying a muffler-deleted resonated catback with nice tips.

Great video, thanks for putting all this together, I had a 2012 S5 5 years ago. In your video, with the race pipes/catless and the non resonated downpipes, it really startled to burble on throttle deload 1:20, hey? In the end, what was your favorite setup? I have a 2015 RS5 with JHM's 2.75" exhaust & non-resonated downpipes, and I'll have the world's first full JHM exhaust setup with their catless race headers installed next week (engine drop job). I'm very curious how it's going to sound with the cats removed, hopefully not too raspy and sloppy. Luckily, it's a valved system.

Hey, thanks for reaching out! I've been watching your videos over the years. My favorite setup was for sure the loudest one. The tone continued to get more and more invigorating with each mod that was added. Audi's 4.2 seems to love a lack of sound restriction. The B8 S5, much like the RS 5 seems to be pretty immune to rasp, which is awesome.
@b58.soupra3 жыл бұрын
Recently I’ve been prowling the internet and I came across the S5 and I think i’ve fallen in love. The only thing is, It’s an audi and they are very expensive to repair if anything happens. Obviously if you maintain it it’ll last, but is it worth buying a used one? I’ve seen some decently priced one close to me under 75k miles.
@jasoniic Жыл бұрын
I most certainly think it's worth buying a used B8 S5. It's an absolute trooper. Yes, you'll run into oil leaks from time to time. They don't have the timing chain guide issues that previous generation 4.2 Audis had, though. Also, the engines are super stout overall. The transmissions hold up well, but manual ones are partially known to be rough on their clutches. For reference, the S5 in this video was performing like this with almost 170k miles on it.

HI great video and effect, I can tell there is a noticeable gain after race pipe and decat. the car seems to acceleration a bit faster compare to previous video, did you have the rear diff mount and bushing replace after the race pipe? the rear seems move a bit on the previous exhaust set and in the last two it looks fine and laid the power down pretty nicely.
@jasoniic Жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for being so attentive! The car did also get a JHM tune after the race pipe/decat, which admittedly did make the car feel more lively. The rear movement may just be coincidental, as I made no changes to mounts or suspension.

How much hp did you gain? I know its not alot alot we can say but whats the estimated amount all these mods did?
@jasoniic27 күн бұрын
It’s hard to say, because I unfortunately never put this car on a dyno. It takes a very unusual example of a 4.2L S5 to get the full advertised 354 hp. They’re usually seen making less. 325-340hp is pretty normal for these cars. Or less when there’s carbon buildup. JHM doesn’t advertise power figures, but they do show quarter mile times. They ran a 12.5 in their car, which is quicker than the magazine times of the 400+hp B7 RS4 and E92 M3. Compared to mine, JHM’s car also had an upgraded clutch and flywheel and lightweight rotors. Jackal Motorsports is the latest and greatest tuner for the 4.2L cars, and they’re making slightly more power than JHM. They had 304awhp on a vehicle with just a cat-back exhaust. Depending on the drivetrain losses, that could mean about 380hp. JHM would probably be right around 370hp. Factor in the intake, downpipes, test pipes, stage 2 tune, and lightweight crank pulley, and we might be right around 390 crank hp. In short, expect about 35-45hp with higher flowing cats, an intake, and an exhaust with a proper tune. Besides that, drivetrain weight reduction mods with help little by little. L

@@jasoniic Hm I have noticed that too, that the facelift rear bumper has more diffuser options. But in that case wouldn't it be more expensive to purchase a new or used rear bumper that is color matched to the car, then a quality diffuser for it, rather than to just bite the bullet and get the deval diffuser for 800$ for the current pre-facelift rear bumper? Or would it still come out cheaper to go with the new bumper and diffuser?
