As a dancer I am still cringing as the fact that some of these ballet dancers still don’t have that great of technique. But anyways A+ for effort to the boys and being mature about it Edit: so I’m getting a lot of hate for the “don’t have great technique” part of this comment. Yes, I know that this could come off rude to some, and yes I know that these are just students. But you must understand as a dancer, you must #1, learn how to take criticism, #2, learn how to use it to thrive. I understand some of these girls have only been doing it for 6 months, but I have been doing it for 7 years and I still remember that the first thing I learned was technique. Turn out the foot, extend the legs, point the foot, hold the arms steady in second, the basic positions of ballet, pull under the butt and keep it all a line. Now this isn’t hate towards them, just that they need to improve. This comment was simply left to state that their technique was not as good as it could be. So please don’t take it the wrong way, thanks. Edit 2: dang thanks for 755 likes! That’s crazy edit 3: so yet again, i’m coming back to this comment more than a year later to “change” some things i said, or more as improve upon my statement. first, wow some people are rude. so my comment was meant strictly for constructive criticism purposes, because i know if i was in their shoes i’d want it, and people turned that into complete hate. i get that some people are beginners, that’s great! everyone starts somewhere, but you also have to know basics to start in that place. i was notified of multiple comments under this one that were reported by other people that i just tried my best to ignore (thank you to those who reported them), who were just being plain out hateful calling me things like “hypocritical” and that i was “ignorant and a disgrace to the dancing community”. i wish that our community wasn’t so toxic and mean to people who just want to give others a bit of criticism. i do admit that my wording at the time of “cringing” was improper, and i’m hoping to fix that here. however you’ll notice i don’t change it, because i want people to see the change to hopefully understand where i was coming from. criticism can help, and this is a perfect example of where it did. hope this clears some things up

Personally as a dancer, dance takes so much more than the flexiblity and the body. A driven person can become a master, it may take weeks, months, and even years, but in the end its worth it. You can see the progress which opens more doors towards opportunities that will further your learning as a dancer. Dance requires hours of training, ice packets, sweat, a drive, etc. Glad to see that the dance community is growing!

This is amazing! I love seeing people that are in a “traditional” sport recognizing that ballet is a sport and not just that, it’s an extreme one. I was a ballet dancer for 16 years and I did 3 years on pointe. I broke toes on my left foot twice and I was always sore. I loved dance so much but it got to the point where body had enough.

Ballet requires crazy body control. You have to constantly think of many different muscles for every move you make. Pointed toes, straight knee, firm spine, elongated neck, controlled elbows, lowered shoulders and so on. And those jumping exercises burn like hell.

Ikr, I'm a dancer specifically ballet I take ballet 6 days a week for 2 and a half hours. My teacher always flips out when an arm is floppy. So seeing that this teacher didn't care to correct them bothers me. If I taught this I would be correcting my dancers not the football players as much, they learn how to do something by watching my dancers so if I correct them they would apply the corrections.

This made me smile a lot, they actually did pretty good. And for everyone commenting on the dancers technique; you don't know how long they've been doing ballet. Also not every dancer dances for competitions, for high rankings etc. I personally dance just for the fun of it. I've been doing that for 11 years, and there's always something that's lacking, technique that could be better and don't even get me started on my flexibility (I'm not that much better than these footballers lmao)

If only the dancers showcased were more advanced. That would have really showed the difference. Most seemed equally as inexperienced as the FB players... Maybe just the nerves.
@lojainnasr35747 жыл бұрын
Plopping into splits during ballet also seems informal.. Possibly just to mess with the poor guys XD.
@jolienvsndijk7 жыл бұрын
N/A N/A Well one of the dancer had only started six months ago so obviously they won't be very good yet. And though the pro vs amateur thing can be hilarious this shows those boys that ballet is something you can learn if you work hard. Being compared to pros would not do that.
@lojainnasr35747 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know but it would cool if they were better. I doubt any of those boys were there to realize their ballet dreams. And like you said ballet is something you can learn if you work hard. Meaning advanced dancers have worked hard and showed them that ballet is graceful and beautiful. Those were aspects not displayed from the beginning dancers. Plus the description also said some of those dancers have been dancing over 10 years. So don't pay too close attention to the 6 months aspect. Thanks for the response! :)
