you're the first person to make this sound good. i've been waiting for someone to send an overdrive into it. certainly helps with the screechy top end. their own video left a lot to be desired. should have just paid you to do their demo
@joelcprice6 ай бұрын
Agree. However the JHS guys ears are tuned to P&W and Indie rock/noise. Their demo did the pedal justice for those kinds of music. They never do heavy music any justice. Not their sound. They knew what they were doing when they sent it to Kyle.
@erikferguson71Ай бұрын
I'm not convinced that it is adding anything new to the market, but it's definitely a solid and viable option. Great tone controls and lots of gain. I didn't notice any noise or feedback, which is nice. If I didn't already have a full arsenal of distortions I'd buy one.

Hopefully JHS sees how important this video was for the pedal. Even after hearing JHS I knew these tones were in there somewhere. Seeing how the boost pedal helped, I can’t help but wonder what could’ve been if one of the knobs had been swapped for a “push” ala pg14. Although tbh I’d probably want to shape that boost element myself anyway 😅 Earned a sub from me, keep it up man!

Was really hoping you’d demo this one!
@yunamadsimackomen8816 ай бұрын
Great demo. JHS are very good at marketing their products. In terms of sound, the pedal offers nothing new. JHS took a Metalzone tone stack, widened the Q of the frequency control, and applied it to a Revv G-series styled distortion circuit. Revv G-series have VERY effective tone stacks on their own. They’re also less pricey. If I was looking for a solid metal distortion pedal that’s intuitive and sounds great out of the box, I would go for the Revv. Your mileage may vary.
@lysdexiar316 ай бұрын
its not a metal zone tone stack, the metal zone uses a gyrator EQ on the lows and mids, with a shelf on the highs. this one is just bandaxall. it's using the same idea, but far from the same tone stack.
@yunamadsimackomen8816 ай бұрын
@@lysdexiar31 I’m not strong on the terminology, but the Metalzone mids and lows behave in a very similar fashion to the Hard Drive. You do have a point, that something is different about the highs between the two pedals, plus the Q of the mid-frequency is wider; however, I would still argue that JHS simply improved upon an idea they took from Boss. Like I stated above, the pedal does not introduce anything particularly innovative that the market hasn’t already seen; there are cheaper options (Revv, Metalzone, Fullbore) with nearly the same capabilities.

@TL-angzarr6 ай бұрын
I would try one first. I played with my buddies and it was underwhelming. I have an mxr 5150 and the hard drive sounds nothing like it. The HD sounds more like a DS1. Kyle makes it sound good by boosting it with an overdrive. On its own it doesnt have a single sound in it that an already existing pedal doesn't do better
