I've had this a few months, I think it's my fav pedal ever. I was never that crazy w TS ODs until I messed with the Moonshien side of this puppy. You can stay on that one forever, gain options and tweaks, amazing what it does to anything else or any amp channel. The Angry Charlie V3 is just the best Marshall sounding pedal, not too metal and fizz just deep heavy basic Marshall add the Moonshine and it is just crazy good, very hard to stop playing it. JHS has a killer here.

Will there, by any chance, EVER be a Marshall amp in Your videos as one of switched amps in "different amps" section of videos? Cause you know, there are some of us who happen to be REALLY proud and happy owners of awesome amps (or a bit less awesome, but also a bit cheaper and still awesome) by that company who might be interwested in "will X pedal sound good into my DSL or whatever ;>

Ok Henning I've got to give it to you this time - this thing sounds bloody great ! I might just have to buy me one - wonder what the price tag is ? Big I expect lol. Funny thing is, when I was a kid JHS was the low budget stuff we bought if we couldn't afford Boss. How things change eh ? Edit: Yeha it's damn expensive - 350 euro is about £313. Shame - it sounds great but it's stupid money. I would have bought one sub £200 but not a chance I'm paying over £300 for it - ain't happening in this lifetime lol. Edit 2: Get Joyo to clone it and put it out for about £129 !

This JHS started in 2007 just fyi so probably not the same one you're thinking of, retail is $315

Yerha I knew JHS went bust quite a while ago, so I assumed someone bought the brand. They used to be based just a couple of miles from where I grew up - couldn't even count the number of JHS branded bits of gear I had back then, though they where primarily an importer/re-brander and didn't manufacture much if anything themselves.

Jonathan Nelson The v3 is €349 at Thomann for Germany or 313,16 pounds for Britain and that's quite low if it really goes for $315 in the US, often the price differences are much bigger.

There's no arguing with the quality - this pedal sounds excellent and there's another I'd like to get my hands on - I think it might be called a colorbox (or colourbox) - it is supposed to simulate going through the old console at abbey road, and I am told it is bloody fantastic. Hahaha good old john hornby skewes though eh ? I wouldn't have been able to afford jack if it weren't for them when I was young - there were no cheap chinese imports back then - no ebay - no gumtree, if you wanted something you went down the music shop (in my case JSG (became spectresound) in Bingley, and you forked over the cash and took it home there and then. Now THAT WAS a proper music shop - like a hard rock cafe but you could buy stuff :)

Sweet Tea magnificent and a Wampler The Doctor in the loop is such a bonus. These two pedals are right up there with my favorites. I had to add that the St V is nice, but i would lose about 70% of the pick guard and let the top wood show and remove some from the bottom edge as well. It just covers too much and overall gives me a bad reflex.

I heard Dan from That pedal show talking about the clean knob on The Moonshine and he didn't really get it. I have to agree with him, as soon as you turn up the clean knob it sounds like crap. Although if your using it for bass the clean blend would work well

I just have to say this is one of the best pedals Ive come across... Im aiming for jazzy, dumbly tones..which Ive found, probably also the Moonshine in this, but the heavy lead tones Ive never quite found in a pedal( I have tweaked n tweaked my ZOOM G2s Mesa n Marshall tones, but .....) I m still saving this to be stomped on, and do have an EHX Silencer ready for noise..., probably will still keep the pedal for not-so-hi gain tones, seems so good! (( and go back tweaking the parameters in the ZOOM once more, a wonderful pedal for clean tone: the reverb/echo/delay department is topnotch and lots of eq parameters!!!😎😎

hmmm...the tube screamer side of this pedal sounds almost exactly like my Wampler Pinnacle with my guitar volume rolled back to 3 or 5. I would love to hear the Angry Charlie dimed up with the guitar volume rolled back to 3 or 5. This is IMHO, the ultimate test for any dist pedal as I've tried many pedals that rival the Pinnacle w guitar volume at 8-10 but when you roll your guitar volume back to 6 or lower they sound DREADFUL. The Pinnacle is the only pedal I've ever used that cleans up nicely and doesn't sound thin, tinny and muddy when you roll your guitar volume back to 6 or lower. It in fact, actually mimics the same guitar volume dynamics of being plugged into a dimed up 1970's 50Watt Marshall JMP.

3rd version better? Depends on how you want to use it. I don’t like the clean blend on its own. It makes the Moonshine sound like a layer of distortion on top of your clean sound. But in front of a distorted amp, you might want that to get more clarity.

One of the best videos you have done. You have probably done it before, but I like the rotation through the half dozen amps or so. Really adds to the effectiveness of the demo. 315 bucks is a lot to spend, for me, on a pedal as a couple of my guitars were about that price. I'll add it to my Christmas list and maybe it will show up. Nice job!

Dear henning, I purchased a Keeley DM drive as my main drive pedal about a year ago but i''m not completely satisfied with it. It does not have entirely the sound i'm looking for, and even though the Boost side is great, i'm not really super ocntent with the drive side. Do you think the sweet tea would be a better contender for genres ranging from metallica to mike stern, than the DM drive, or is it in your opinion about the same?
@EnterJustice
@EnterJustice 3 жыл бұрын
The Sweet Tea v3 is essentially a tubescreamer + JCM800 sim, whereas the Keeley D&M is more of a bluesbreaker (the one you like) + tubescreamer/klon-type circuit. There isn't a dual pedal that combines a bluesbreaker-circuit with a heavy metal circuit, I'm afraid. Not that I know of. You'll also find that many dual overdrives feature the tubescreamer in some way. It's a legendary pedal for a reason. Perhaps just get a morning glory, pantheon, black box overdrive 2,... for the lighter overdrives. I think Metallica liked to run a tubescreamer + rat into a marshall in their early days. If you're looking for heavy metal tones there's tons of options, ranging from pure amp drive (mesa boogies, 5150's, engl's and diezels,... plenty of options) to pedals (e.g. Empress Heavy, Revv G3/G4, Wampler Dracarys,...). I like to run a high gain pedal into a vox ac30 sim with a mesa boogie cab. Awesome tones.

@@hugowasalreadytaken MG is a modified bluesbreaker circuit, with added JFET output buffer. Klon has a different circuit (the double gain pot for example), though to the untrained ear they can sound similar depending on your gain settings.

@@EytschPi42 -- LOL. I have an Ibanez TubeScreamer, too. But, if I like the Moonshine better, don't hate JHS for improving the pedal. The JHS costs more than the Ibanez, too, so I don't see any problem with "unfair" competition. Get over it. Competition is a good thing.
