I was not a fan of JHS, I liked pedals that had a battery option. One day I saw the Double Barrel for $100 at a pawnshop, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to buy it and try it out cause I could resale for a little more than I paid. Well took it home and I liked it, it had an issue with the LEDs and I emailed you guys and you guys were ace. Helped me get this bad boy working and I couldn’t have asked for quick and kind service. Since then I’ve purchased a few more of your pedals and I was convinced enough to have a dedicated pedalboard for pedals that only run on power supply.thanks

Why do I watch you? 1.) you are the most unbiased reviewer of Pedals...even though you own, design and manufacture Pedals - you are very comfortable in your Skin - appear with great Authenticity and you are an accomplished player which I am not - I adopted watching you since the passing of my best friend, past lead guitar player of a band I was in and Jeff J. and I have shared chasing tone for the last 11+ years after I quit our band (Aug 2008 -due to the Bass players out of control ego) Jeff J. passed on Mar. 3rd 2019 after battling cancer and playing literally up to the month before he passed so since his passing and for the last two+ months I have stayed connected to chasing tone with you and with Uncle Doug...learning more about tone, electronics and actually building a few of my own pedals and repairing a few...(LPB1 - Electro-Harmonix 1970 original) I have a relative that designs famous amps...and I personally have loved the smell of burning Soldier... since I watched my older brother build his first Heathkit in the 1960's - HONESTLY - I do not own any of your pedals....you just demo'"ed one or two that I would own but out of my budget at this time being disabled and on a fixed income... I play mostly rhythm guitar since I was 13 - and now at 63 and with Jeff's passing I want to aspire to get to his level of Lead Playing...he was not only a dear brother in Tone Chasing...but he was one of the best two finger lead players I have ever seen...his ability to tweak a Knob on a Marshall, Fender or Mesa amp meant he needed very little pedals...one or two in his chain...always a wah and a couple pedals... A few he stopped using - he gifted me them and I will always cherish along with an ABY pedal he gave me so I can run a Fender and another amp to add that extra tone a fender doesn't produce, a guitar strap and one of his guitar stands that he broke and I repaired... He remains in my heart till we meet again...and thanks again for all your videos...you have comforted that void that Jeff J.'s passing left...He remains in my life through countless Memories of gigs gone by...past phone conversations about Chasing Tone...and endless hours of playing and shopping for tone...again for all you do now and in the future puts a smile on my face as it brings back a memory of my dear friend - sincerely Brian K. UCN Biz Group / Tone Chaser / past band member of Rule 62 "Don't take yourself to damn seriously...' that was our tag in the band...till the bass player lost sight of his ego. ! Stay Humble and play loud!

The first JHS pedal I owned was the Angry Charlie V3. The instant I plugged it in and played, I was blown away. I just couldn't stop playing it because I was in disbelief at how good it sounded. The other JHS pedal I own is the Charlie Brown V4. I use it as my main overdrive tone in effects loop of my Bugera V22 Infinium (which has mild breakup). I have the pedal set up with the gain is pretty much maxed to achieve a JMP type tone rather than the JTM tone that the pedal was intended to create. I was skeptical of JHS pedals at first because of the cost, but the quality of the product backs up the purchase. I will definitely be buying more JHS pedals in the future.
@PhilLament5 жыл бұрын
I first heard of JHS pedals from the early days of "That Pedal Show" (they leaned pretty heavily on the Angry Charlie for a while). Sadly, I do not own any JHS pedals...yet. The "Loud is More Good" t-shirt has the best clean tone of any shirt I own, but in dirty mode it's a little harsh.
@oguitars35315 жыл бұрын
I first heard about JHS via a non-music related websearch for the Pink Panther. "My, that's an expensive pedal," I thought. I liked its looks, but I already had quite a few delays, so I didn't feel the true need for it. Still, it caught my eye, so I started doing a little research and discovered youtube reviews of it and other JHS pedals. My first JHS product was an Electro-Harmonix Soul Food with the Meat & 3 mod. That opened my eyes! Flash forward two years and I now have a Pulp 'N Peel, Muffuletta, Kilt V2 w/Red Remote, @+, Calhoun V2 and a Colour Box. Lots of toys to manipulate drive and tone! I guess if I were to get another JHS pedal it would be the Emperor (and then perhaps a Kodiak!)

Having said that, I would love to hear you talk more about your pedals. There's obviously some sort of balance, if every video is you talking up your pedals then your channel is less interesting because it's just another corporate account. I recently got my first JHS pedal. I’ve been a huge fan of yours and Brian wampler’s videos (and products) for a long time. I genuinely respect both of you, so it was really important for me to get to represent both of you on my board. Sold a couple things and got myself a muffuletta and a v2 catapult. I absolutely love both, and was lucky enough to find them both used, with original box, stickers, and even the gravity pick (fantastic touch btw. That’s my new wallet pick that stays on me at all times). Lemme tell you, running a tube screamer before, and a bluesdriver after the muff is tonal bliss. Muff + blues = instant Gilmoure. TS into the muff gives me a really enjoyable 80’s metal tone. Sorry I couldn’t buy your gear new, I’m having to save for grad school. But just know, I’m very proud to have you and your brand represented on my board 👍🏼

I'm popping my KZbin commenting cherry here! Absolutely Loving the JHS tones from over here in the UK. Can't wait to get a JHS Pedal of my own to add to my pedalboard.

The Colour Box is for sure my favourite. It to me is one of the most unique pedals ever designed. Such an amazing concept! And what a sound it can make! I will get one someday!

I don't really remember where I heard about JHS pedals first, but once I found out that you're literally two and a half hours from me, I figured I probably needed to support a, "local," pedal maker. I followed your stuff for about 2 years before you released the Steak and Eggs with Keeley. That got announced and I knew I needed it. I sold off every pedal I had at the time, other than my DD-7, Crybaby, Ernie Ball Volume pedal, and Fender PT100, (I had 5 others on my board at the time and an RC-50) to get the Steak and Eggs. Since then I've added a Prestige as an always on and a Muffuletta for some some fuzz, (all the fuzz!) None of your other pedals have made it onto the board yet, but they are the ones I use to add the most flavor. May 17th will be my 3rd anniversary as a JHS owner/player, and I couldn't be happier with them

I'd like, but losing your job sucks and don't want to appear to be liking that.

I am just staring to put together my first pedal board. I’ve been roaming around KZbin looking at different things and stumbled onto one of your videos. After spending most of the day going through more of your videos, I am seriously looking at your pedals as the foundation for my board. Thanks for all the great information!!

These three need to just start coming out with instrumental albums. Every jam from the channel is really tasteful. I think Josh is one of the most creative guitarists.

Brighten the Corners was one of those perfect albums at the perfect time for me. I saw them (on that tour perhaps) and Mogwai opened. I had never heard of Mogwai, but they snuck up onstage and then ten minutes later you realized you’d been listening to the opener play an amazing song full of blinding psychedelia. Then they all casually switched back to their original instruments and played the rest of their set their set. I was awestruck. I went strait to the merch table and bought the record. I will never be the same.

What an episode! Wish I was fast enough the first time to check out how you set the pedals. I guess I better watch again. LOVE Pavement.

I absolutely love Pavement. They were a prominent part of my high school/college soundtrack. Stephen Malkmus solo stuff is awesome too. Also, I picked up the Muffuletta a few months ago and it's become my favorite pedal.

Because of you guys and Thatpedalshow I'm now building my own little pedals..... Thank you for pushing me into the rabbit hole :D (I'll still get me a kodiak and an emperor, can't believe the amount of options they offer

I've got a 1484 that's been updated (better made cab and a real reverb tank) it's killer! Still a bit of a sleeper.
@dirtyhilljack5 жыл бұрын
i have one too, but it is all original (outside of being properly grounded so i don't kill myself with it!) and i love it. it is that killer early 60's garageband sound and the trem is pretty good. the reverb is crap on it, but enough reverb pedals and tanks out there to cover that.

Gave my away in the great scale down of 2015...other victims were a 1966 Super, Cox Tweed Twin, and 1967 Band Master with the tone rings cabinet.

Love Brighten the Corners. Me and my friends were lucky enough to meet Malkmus a couple of times at gigs. He called us the ‘Coventry three’. Amazing musician and awesome guy. When my friend put on Slanted & Enchanted and Summer Babe came on that first time, Pavement became a really important band whilst growing up. Love absolutely everything they have done. Love the channel Josh. Keep up the great work. Thursday’s now the new Friday.

All of them sounded great, but you nailed that “Concrete” 😆 sound perfectly. I thought I was listening to something off of Slanted & Enchanted or Crooked Rain. 🤘🏼

I hadn't really heard of JHS pedals until you started this channel. Really enjoy your vids, they are entertaining, educational and your music jams are first class. Greetings from England!

I would absolutely love to have a JHS pedal that had the sounds and characteristics of my old (now broken) Boss DM-1 !!! 😢 That would make my pedalboard life complete again! ❤️ Apart from that, my favorite is the Firefly! 😍

That was great! Love all of the tones and really like how you highlighted each pedal. Sweet!
