Popo has the greatest gift of cooking super Hakka foods for younger generations world wide to preserve. I had the greatest 'belly laugh' with her expression 'Pahang sakai'. I only discovered KZbin 2 yrs ago and extremely limited use of my phone too. Popo and granddaughter, thank you for your videos bringing joy to so many. This Hakka lady viewing from London.

My first time comment here. I am a pure Hakka and I have heard “autaman”(actually there’s no proper spelling for it as it’s in pin yin form) in many Hakka households. My late grandma-Ah Poh also uttered such word. “Auta” or “auda” is a Hakka slang-word means flip shot, anyhow, simply one, or cincai. The ‘man’ taken from ultra man, the popular TV series during the black and white TV era. So autaman or audaman is birthed. 😅The younger generations Hakka wouldn’t know this slang word. Your po po reminds me of my late Ah Poh(paternal grandmother).

I accidentally saw this video. Even though I cannot speak Hakka, I stopped and watched because of hearing the Hakka accent. I am Hakka in Thailand and this video reminds me of my late Ah Poh. My mom now is 91 and sometimes I have teken her to have Hakka food in Bangkok downtown. Take care.

In Malaysia, in days gone by, people usually finish a word with the expression 'yes, man', 'no, man', 'do like this man', 'gorgeous man', to put emphasis on the action. Also 'auta' comes from the Malay word, meaning 'false', 'pretend' eg 'he is an autaman' meaning he is a false person.
