Usually more current is better it makes em stack up better on structure.

That's cool to know. All these places get pretty good current in them sometimes. I usually avoid the area when that happens.

@@FishYanker I've hit em in 20 mph crosswinds on the main lake just gotta be extremely accurate and lead your cast like a sniper to ensure your lure passes close by the structure when you pass over it, heavier jigheads like 1/4 ounce helps alot, but if it stormed recently the Creeks always a no-go for me. Cold fronts too it's been proven most Crappie will come well out of the Creeks during Winter Coldfronts, marine biologists did a study by attaching radars to Crappie and noticed most of the larger ones traveled 5-6 miles overnight back to the main lake in preparation of Coldfronts.

Hey great vid I’m starting to get some good crappies in the shallower water now, and some nice bluegills in the oxbows of the lakes up north here in Michigan. Nice catch!!! We have those gars but I haven’t caught one in years, I see them. I catch large and smallmouth bass on the jigs and an occasional northern pike that can cut the line easy.
@FishYanker
@FishYanker 3 ай бұрын
Thank you Gill getter. I am ready for the cooler water temps so the Gar will leave my minnows alone. We can catch a lot more crappie then. I don't believe I have ever caught a northern pike but I have caught chain pickerel. They do put up some good fight.

How does the higher water we are having now effect the fishing in your home waters? Gauge at Patterson is over 10 foot.
@FishYanker
@FishYanker 3 ай бұрын
Hey Rob. I use the Patterson gauge to go by when I go fishing. It takes 5 to 7 days before your river jump reaches my area. I'm fishing the lower part of Cache river from Clarendon up. It gives me time to fish certain areas before the rise. Catch it just coming up and I can do pretty good. But when it gets really high that's when I have problems.

I have two boats and I just got my third boat I have a 17 ft 1969 Bayliner ski boat that holds four people my two kids me and my fiance/wife I'm getting married to next week and then I have a 20 ft bass boat fully decked out and loaded got to use for flats and saltwater fishing for speckled trout and bass fishing and all that but the most fun I have fishing is my little aluminum 14 ft Jon boat with a trolling motor on it only and I have had the most fun fishing out of things I can get in the places where I don't want to bring my nice fancy bass boat into and worry about getting it all destroyed and scratched up and hitting the bottom with it if I bought them out and stuff like that I can pull it over logs if I need to or a little short mud banks that are in the shallows to get to deeper pawns down the rivers and stuff like that if I needed to It is so nice and I've caught some of the biggest fish with it because I can get more remote areas with it and not worry about anything and I can pull it over like I said easily with my hands over a embankment or a mud spot that doesn't have water covering it and I also have a 14-ft jon boat I just got with a mud motor and that thing is a life changer but the little 14 foot with the trolling motor I have caught everything but from large bass to monster catfish in it we're on trot lines limb lines speckled trout fishing in it red fish in it Heck I've even gone out into the bay when it's real real calm and gone out just far enough to where I can catch smaller but legalized red snapper with it only if it's really really calm and I can do that and go a mile offshore to this little wreck in dauphin Island. The only reason I commented all this about my little John boat with the little trolling motor on it is because you're using a Tron a jon boat in this video and it's the most fun I've had fishing and I grew up fishing in John boats with my neighbor that live next door and he would take me all the time as a kid to go fishing with Jon boat with him because my dad was always overseas cuz he was in the military and stuff like that when we moved Alabama so my neighbor would take me fishing all the time as a kid when we moved here and we finally stayed in Alabama thank God and they have to move no more and I didn't really have grandparents so he kind of took me in as his grandkid from age 11 to 16 and then he passed away a couple years ago from COVID during the whole pandemic but we still went fishing up until the day he died and he left the hospital with COVID dying and I took him out in my bass boat for one last fishing trip a week before he passed away cuz he wanted to go fishing with me one last time and I'm now 32 but just your little Jon boat has all them memories it brought me back just from watching this video so thank you. 😊 And that neighbor taught me how to use lures and artificial baits cuz when I was a kid I was fishing in Canada and catching all these big monster Pike and sturgeon and stuff like that always just use live baits with a bobber or freeline never really had luck with artificial until he taught me how to properly use it and ever since he taught me how to properly use artificial and had to properly know what artificial dates to use and what water conditions and and even embodies of water you've never fish before to have luck and be able to catch fish I've never went back to live bait except for a few times when I'm fishing with people that's never really fished a whole lot and I know the speckled trout are there really hard and heavy so I'll just put live shrimp on the hook and free line it and then just deal with the back hitch so that way we can catch monster speckled trout without having to deal with lures with them and teach them how to proper use a lure and them not catching a fish because they don't know how to present it or retrieve it properly or how to set the hook properly and that's why I love plastic artificial because you ain't got to worry about a back cuz of catching nasty cat hardhead catfish and the saltwater or catching unwanted fish in the freshwater cuz live bait will catch anything but lures will catch certain species that you target only sometimes I have caught monster channel cat and blue cat with bass fishing lures that I balanced off of the side of trees and stuff for their wedding for little critters to fall off the trees and the water the catfish do and they'll eat them when they hit the water and I've caught monster 20 plus pound catfish like that just out of luck. I'm taking my son this morning to go crappie and white perch fishing and pan fishing this morning it's a nice crisp 42° November Saturday morning and it's beautiful out to go fishing calm crisp cool air perfect pan fishing morning out on the jon boat with the little electric motor cheap and efficient we're going to use crickets nightcrawlers and then some artificial grubs and spinner baits and stuff like that in case the live bait isn't working then I can start teaching how to use artificial today He's seven so it's about time for him to start learning how to use artificial now. And it's going

Wow. You had a great fishing partner. Sounds like he shared a lot of knowledge with you. You were blessed. That is a wonderful story. thank you for sharing it with me. One of my favorite most effective lures I ever have used for panfish. It will catch Bluegills, Crappie, Bass and more is the Johnson beetle spin. But I remove the grub and put a Bobby Garland jig on there, does so much better. Tip it with a crappie bite or live minnow for scent very effective and easy to do. I got lots of videos using the beetle spin. I hope you and your son catch some good ones. And have a wonderful Day on the lake. Thank you
