Kelly is a true champion and a legend... he saw me fishing off the shore and picked up a total stranger... it was honor to get to pick his brain and fish with this man for a couple hours.

Big senkos, shallow diving cranks, swim baits, big ol monster worms, a chartreuse spinner bait, a frog, and a loud squeaky buzz bait will catch your biggest bass in ponds. I throw buzz bait, big line thru swimbaits, huge senkos, occasionally a light jig, frog, and big 12 to 16 inch worms for pond bass majority of the time. Have caught bunch of 5 plus pounders

I'm really enjoying these "back to basics" vids. I think a lot of people get caught up in the flash and pizzazz of what the bait market offers, and overlook the versatility of the plastic worms and jigs in your basic colors.

"Don't overwork the jig" most important thing said in this video. Keep up the good work!

This was so so helpful. Thanks for making this. I’m new to fishing and have nothing but KZbin and some ambition to hit the water to really learn from so this was super awesome for me. Thanks so much!

Gummed up jigs, I learned the hard way. I learned to apply smelly jelly to the tips of the trailer, head, line tie, and 6 or so inches up the line.

Thanks for creating this segment. I live in LB so closest LMB to catch are in ponds and one thing I always have with me is jigs.

Thanks for making this man. The jig and most of the other bottom baits are things that I've been trying to get good at for a while without success, so this video helps a lot. Every year in May my grandparents go to clear lake to fish, and this year they said that I can come with them, so I'm hyped to hopefully try some jigs on spawning bass there. I love the content, keep up the good work!

I always have a Jig tied on 12 months out of the year . The football head is designed for Rock the Arkie is more like a swim jig head or a casting jig head . Here in the northwest Ga area we are in the corner between Alabama and Tenessee so we fish Guntersville on the Tenessee river chain , Lake Weiss on the coosa river chain and Chickamauga on the Tenessee river and jigs have produced fish for me for over 35 years and counting

Thanks yo hack attack I gained confidence in a jig and now I have a bait I know I can get bit with any day, any time anywhere. GOTTA HAVE JIG SKILLS.....

Heck yeah! I’m just getting into swimbaits, but jigs in heavy cover have caught me more big bass than all other lures combined (with the exception of frogs). They’re one of the most versatile baits ever made!
@nickcavazos57183 жыл бұрын
@@r.barefoot8386 you and I have alot in common, my 2 biggest bass ever are on frogs for 1 and 2 and 3-5 on jigs. And last year I bout my 2nd heavy hook soft body swimbait setup. Fixing to be that time of year to slow roll shallow for those big belly gals in Ok!

That brand of Jig must be to California, like the Jewel Eakins Jig is to the Ozarks! Ya got me digging in my old Jig trailers. That Yamamoto twin tail in Green pumpkin, or Rootbeer, with green/ extra green flake was the deal. And found some old Seagar Carbon Pro, before it became Invizex...lol. I like when you go on these old school journeys. I think that Carbon Pro and Green Extra green was from the early 90's... I even stumbled across an old Ryobi baitcaster I bought with paper route money in the 80's. It's on a Berkley lightning rod, with pistol grip...lol. That was my Jig setup then...and a fancy one too for a young kid.

Jig is a good, affordable entry bait for big bass fishing (5 jigs + trailers = 1 Hudd)

Uncle Josh was the business back in the day. Its crazy to see how many different varieties there are, however I still keep it simple with only a couple different trailers that are money.
