If there is a time of the day that Photographers shy away from, it is during midday, when the sun is at it’s highest and gives more of than not the harshest light. I personally love shooting at this time of day. Check out the video to find out my reasons why.

Informative. As a natural light photographer, harsh sunlight is really my nightmare. I should master off camera flash to level up. Thanks for the tips 😊

i will never again shoot families outdoor with natural light. just switched to OCF and the results BLOW AWAY available light. minimal post required too. even an unmodified AD200 with late afternoon backlighting is shockingly better.

i show the client the background sharpness during some initial test shots when having beautiful backgrounds starting around f/2.8 - 4.0 - 5.6 and f8. They pick f/8 most of the time. we get so locked onto the bokeh thing and forget that clients want the beauty of the surroundings. and it sucks when you send the final images and they say "how come the background is so out of focus"? the OCF will separate enough and sometimes create a composite feel if not careful. my formula is 50mm f8 auto ISO and a delicate kiss of OCF with light touch post. works for me.

Judging from the shadows on the floor, the sun was slightly from our left and approximately opposite of the flash? Beautiful results.

Another great video sir Jiggy, I remember when I shoot a couple with this light condition somewhere in qc, it was so hot, the floor is reflecting light from the sun and when I check the shots in my computer their eyes are squinting in the photos, well it's a learning process.

About deep parabolic reflectors: they become soft~boxes as soon as you put a front diffuser on them. So if you never use them without diffuser, they're clumsy big. Especially with a second diffuser. With only one diffuser the flash angle of your strobe will impact the quality of light, still, but that may be very subtle. In general, I would prefer a naked flash tube (not encased in a small reflector) that sends light in all directions and in that way fills the modifier without need for a diffuser (an inner).
