OBTW: if fishing a live Alewife on the bottom, use a slip sinker rig and a 24-36” leader, hook the alewife behind his dorsal fin, and put half a foam peanut on the hook to keep him up off the bottom, swimming freely! Leave the bail open with the clicker ON, watch the line! Hang on!!

I did this very same thing back in the 70’s and 80’s on Lake Huron. Playing the wind and knowing the cold water rotation it can cause can put you into fish most people don’t think you can catch till the fall run.

@@djfglobal3377 very true. I love jigging for walleye in the Detroit River, but jigging kings is a very different experience
