Iron jigs, sometimes called jigging spoons, are an under used and appreciated lure for jigging Columbia River Walleye and Lake Whitefish. While popular among offshore anglers in the Pacific Northwest targeting bottomfish and tuna they are scarcely seen in tackleboxes of Northwest Walleye anglers. Additionally, they are highly effective at targeting Lake Whitefish that are feeding on juvenile perch or walleye and have been widly used by Great Lakes anglers to target large whitefish for decades.
