With regards to the sentient mannequins: there is, apparently, a Japanese folk belief that tools and everyday objects can, over time, acquire a " Spirit" and become self-aware. It comes up in a few other stories I've seen, but the only example i can think of is a lovely little series called Hakumei and Mikochi, a slice of life about tiny people and talking animals living in a forest, in which they were trying to fix a coffee grinder that had become sentient and decided to retire. I also know there are urban legends about living school mannequins, which makes sense, because they're creepy as hell, and kids have imaginations.

One small thing is that in Japanese school, there's something called "seven mysteries" where some weird superstition stuff happen in a school, and an alive anatomical model is one of them.

Oh that's interesting, I like how this show seems to tie in folktales or superstitions like that. We definitely wouldn't pick up on stuff like this without the comments so always appreciate the information - Matt
