Omg I was waiting for you to react to this!! Everyone don't seem to care much about the lyrics but it is so damn deep. You were right, he was placing himself in his haters shoes and criticizing himself in the song. The live version of this song is so good too, G.Soul sounds amazing even on live and Zico is always fire on stage. A little backstory in case you don't know. Zico and his group Block B went through some hardship ever since the beginning of their careers (being scammed by their ceo and was forced to leave the company and some of their staff had to create their own company to support Block B so Zico basically had to be the hard carrier for the whole group) and then he kept getting hate as he grows as a solo artist. Much like how RM and Suga did, cause he is still active in both underground and idol scenes. You might be able to check out on his story more by watching MNET 4 Things Show where he opened up about it. Please check on more of Zico's work. He just released a single with IU and his tracks with his crew, Fanxy Child, are amazing as well. PS. Mnet 4 Things Show also had episodes for AOMG and Jay Park (season 1 ep. 1 & 2) and also RM (clips from the show was shown on the Who Is BTS video)

I really like the part your good deeds are written in sand and your mistakes in stone I think it’s specially relevant for the Korean entertainment industry where idols make ONE ‘mistake’ or have a scandal and their career are pretty much over, idols should be perfect and not human. That’s why I love artist like Zico or Bts who even if they are idols are brave enough to show weakness and speak their minds.

Shugufa Noori for sure there are several idol rappers who have skill as good and even better than some underground rappers like those you’ve mentioned but they did not simultaneously work in the underground scene while being an idol like zico did. He’s the only one who had each foot in both realms and he is respected as an underground rapper even by khh rappers who talk shit about idols and idol rappers. By no mean do I think those you’ve mentioned aren’t good tho

This has always been one of my favourite Zico songs, the lyrics are so meaningful. How he talks about that being an idol is like being a product and how nobody cares if you're feeling like shit as long as you can put up your facade and perform well. But he also acknowledges that without his haters, his success wouldnt be as apparent. I don't know but this song just speaks to me, i prefer it to "Artist" from the same album.

Yeeeeeaaap ZICO is one of the few idol rapper that has a real rapping credibility along with TOP from Big Bang, Bobby (from ikon) and Mino (from Winner). He has a really special way to deliver and his lyrics are pretty good. You should react to his song VENI VIDI VICI it’s old but one of my fave. G SOUL is also not to be neglected he is such a dope singer his voice reminds me of MJ it’s so smooth. Sadly he is currently doing his service in the army.
