Good morning Jill! As they say, “One bite at a time”. And being a person who has downsized “many” times, be ruthless in the culling process. Boxes of organized pictures take up so much room; paperwork older than 7 years is just paper and a cup & saucer collection for afternoon tea? You’ll feel soooo much better - or “refreshed”! Enjoy the process. XXOO

Thank you Ann. You are so right about the culling. I'm definitely going to have to cull harder, and your photo comment really hit home. I have several boxes of old photos of the boys, and I have to be ruthless about going through them. I put the best ones in scrapbooks so I don't need to keep all of the others. I had a word with Mitch about it, and he encouraged me to release them. I definitely will. xoxo

Thank you Yota! I understand. You aren't ready until you are ready, and some people may never be. I'll definitely do before and afters on the closet!! xoxo

Not having a washer/dryer would be “crazy making business”. I can imagine when they are delivered you will pull an all nighter tearing through everything. I know and understand what you are going through with the move, when I moved 7 years ago, it was blending two households, and too long to go into..... Monday Musing Hugs!

Thank you so much Michele! It's definitely been a challenge, and you are so right. I will be doing load after load after load, and I will be delighted about it! xoxo

We fully understand you my friend. You're used to big houses where all your things fitted in and now you need to downsize. That's a pain... Hope you find those little bags you're looking for and let us see them. I would love to see a video on how to clean sterling silver pieces. I remember suggesting this in the past but i knew you were busy as well. No pressure thought. Have yourself settled in first...Enjoy the rest of the week! xoxo

While you are downsizing I am drooling over your almost 5,000 square foot house you gave up!! I see closets that are the bigger than my master “suite” and I swoon! The ability to actually display your handbags and shoes is amazing when you have that kind of space. I’m an avid reader and collector of books that I like to display which takes up a lot of room. I’ve actually run out of wall space in my house to put out pics and I’m not one for rotating items in and out of storage. Basically I need another house to decorate!!

Thank you Tracy, and I completely understand. Maybe it's time to help decorate a friend's house! xoxo

I've moved so much I can understand that unsettling feeling of not having everything in its place and not knowing where some important things are. Looking forward to when you have it all together and feel more at peace. I'm really glad you're enjoying being in the smaller space. Have you thought about going to a laundromat while you're waiting on the washer and dryer? I used to have to do that in NYC. I was poor so I had to sit and wait on my clothes but you could drop yours off. They'll even fold everything. I'm also glad that your channel continued to grow over those 3 weeks. I think I've told you that I tend to get the most subscribers on the second or third day after I post a video, not on the day of. I don't understand it but it's great that it worked out for you.
@JillMaurer4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm looking so forward to being settled! I thought about the laundromat, but after the initial wait each day it was going to be here the next day so I've been strung along. It's finally here! I'm doing laundry like a mad woman. I remember the third day scenario you mentioned. I'll start tracking mine to see if it works the same way for me. xoxo

We moved mid December, to a bigger place, but we are a lot of people. It’s my daughters place and her husband plus their 5 children and now I’m here as well plus a cousin. We fit but, we’re also trying to settle in. Two days after the move my daughter had surgery, then 31 December I ended up in the hospital for 18 days. So I understand about your move. We had washer issues plus this that and the other. God Bless you Jill, May your days run smoother and all your issues be solved.

Oh yours sounds like a very involved move Eva with some huge surprises thrown in! I know it will get better here. It will take a couple of months, but I will be feeling better than ever when it's all together. xoxo

Oh it’s such a pain when you feel unsettled after a move. This too shall pass. Hoping things move along nicely and you can get everything situated. It will be so great when you are at peace in your new space knowing where everything is at all times. I’m the same way, so I completely understand. Hang in then, I’m sure all will be just beautiful and neat once it’s all done and settled. Hugs, Sharon

I love that this video is titled 'getting snugly'! I also loved the shoutout :)) Hearts! (I don't know how to do KZbin emojis haha) Whew, your videos are giving me flashbacks to my last nightmare move, with the not having items when you're supposed to have them and not being able to wear appropriate clothing! I'm loving following this move but I'm glad I'm not the one moving right now!!
@JillMaurer4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You are so welcome on the shoutout! I think KZbin emojis can only be done if you are on your phone. It is a bit of a nightmare I have to admit. Still no dresser! I'm getting very good at repeating outfits! xoxo

Wow! I'm honored to have been mentioned in your video! I might just have to use one of my W&D bags today, even if it's just grocery shopping, lol! I hate having a broken washer or dryer. Luckily, my in-laws live next door so it's not too bad but still a little bit of a hassle. I can't wait to see what you do with your closet space! Still miss the MCM house tho. :(

It was an honor to mention you Mandi! I finally do have my washer and dryer. If it went on much longer I was going to take it to a laundromat. Oh how I'm looking forward to my new closet, and I will be delighted to show it to you! I certainly miss having the MCM background, but oddly I don't miss the house. I loved it, but it was so much to take care of. xoxo

I totally can relate to your feelings about the move. I work for builder and I sell and buy my house every three years. It’s difficult, not much more to say.
@JillMaurer4 жыл бұрын
Oh my Oxana! We used to move every 2 or 3 years because my dad was in the military. Amazing that you are doing it by choice, but I see where it would make sense for you to do. Moving and downsizing have been rough but will be worth it in the end. xoxo

I hate moving I hate even looking at cardboard boxes. My sympathies but it will get better some people say that it takes three years to settle the home I hope it doesn’t take you that long to work the bugs out. But in the meantime I love interior design organization etc. I downsize 10 years ago and it was so much fun to figure out how to make the closet space work and be interesting to look at. I can’t wait to see what your designers cook up for you
@JillMaurer4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Leslie! Three years? That sounds terrifying. I don't think it will be that long for me, but I can definitely see it taking three to six months before I'm truly settled in. Parts of this process will definitely be a lot of fun! xoxo

Congratulations on your downsizing move! I envy you but at the same time I adore the luxuries of our current home and can’t give all of them up yet. Someday . . . But another note, I would love to see how you organize and store your jewelry. I have been keeping things in my top dresser drawers, in many of their original beautiful boxes. I tend to forget that things are there and use the same pieces all of the time. There are layers in the drawer. Many pieces have been out of site, and out of mind. I would like to have things somewhat secure. Not locked in a literal safe, but somewhere I can be sure they are not too accessible during very large parties and when the cleaning crew comes into the home. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you on the downsizing. Trust me when I say that it didn't happen overnight. It was years of thinking about it before it finally happened. I am planning jewelry storage as part of my closet plan and will definitely share that when it is complete. Because I'm a jewelry designer and have so much my inventory is kept in the bank. However I do have the pieces that I wear like most people do, and storing them conveniently for me ... and not so conveniently for other people ... is important! Thank you for the request! xoxo

Sending you good vibes! In the end everything will all work out. I can’t imagine not having a washer & dryer, though, I went through not having a dishwasher for a week and it was brutal! 😆 Again, another first world problem. 💕

Unfortunately I'm not an appraiser and am not sure about pricing specific gems. Prices also fluctuate. If you have this stone the best person to take it to is an appraiser. xoxo
