Thanks Justin, Looking forward to the transcription. Jim is probably too humble to mention it, but he has an awesome Patreon site where he puts out a weekly lesson on Friday’s usually with tab and lots of other cool content throughout the week. His lessons on his website are also superb. It isn’t hard to tell he’s just good people too.

I loved this. A great style of playing for me to play along with. I think it's the sort of abstract jazz that l could bluff a whole gig!! It's that fine line of Picasso loving and envying the child artist. Those many shapes on the guitar that this man could name because he knows exactly what he's talking about next to me improvising a pro p.o. of nada...hammer ons plucked from the ether and crowd scratch their chins and marvel at my genius too !!

im a self taught musician and i usually play simple things, "harmony-wise", although i like to get into complicated stuff every once in a while and i have to say ive found myself trying to complicate things without any real reason very often, i completely agree on the whole single melody line situation anyway very chill, interesting and useful video, love it

At 21:05, Jim keeps a C in the bass but at 24:25, he swaps it out for a Gm7. Am i missing something?

Do jazz guitarist have to have heavy eyebrows to be great? My wife's uncle was Canadian jazz guitarist Ed Bickert, who had similar eyebrows!! Ed had a cool version of Misty and I could never figure out his chords! Cool session, this!

At 27' or so, he kinda destroys most of what I can do jazz chord wise. I still have that Mickey Baker book. :-)

Yes, thanks to Robben Ford, everyone has a Mickey Baker book. Me too. Funny thing is, in an interview with Robben a few weeks ago, he admitted to only having read the first few pages of the book :-).
