"Humans aren't meant to be alone." Is the message this movie is trying to convey.... reading the comment and reviews its clear A LOT of people are too shallow to understand that. Instead saying things like "this should have been a horror" "Jim is creepy" (he is but that besides the point) and "This movie should be from Aurora perspective" completely missing the point...... while i agree that this movie has some issues from storytelling perspective i think its completely and utterly underrated and undeserving of most criticism its getting..... and this scene alone is Oscar-worthy masterpiece.

If there was a button on that ship that would wake up the entire crew, all of those people saying Jim is creepy for waking her up would've pressed it eventually. No one really understands what it's like to be alone, especially for long stretches of time like that.

I saw this in theatre with my mom (as an adult) and we both sobbed openly. She and I have both been suicidal. This was a beautiful scene.

I think it would have been a cooler scene if he decided to press that button, but UI would block airlock and say something like "error, no vaccum suit detected, enabling outer airlock lockdown"

This movie might not be the best movie in current cinema or anything like that, but I think it speaks volumes about Chris being one of the best actors in current cinema, simply because of how WELL the movie works as is, even though for a good half of it, absolutely nothing happens besides us following him on an empty CGI set, with little to nobody to talk to. I can't think of many actors who could've pulled this off. Chris did an amazing job. So many emotions with so little words. Amazing.

La séquence la plus émouvante où celui ci seul dans l'espace tend sa main en vain vers ce qui devait être sa destination, et sous son casque laisse échapper une larme d'un homme en perdition qui n'atteindra jamais son but, naufragé d'une destinée qui lui échappe. Why not go out surrounded by your friends and loved ones, comfortably in a hospital bed, tranquilized to the point of not feeling any pain but conscious and thankful for a good life you've had, after saying your goodbyes? Why would you rather experience slow freezing to death, eyes boiling and popping out of your sockets, inability to move or escape, dark void sucking life out of you...? You can't be serious.
