The best part about that? That ass-kicking was for wearing a robe and marking him when he was a celebrity and should have been in the ring with Adrian the first place. Adrian said he didn't find out about the other stuff until later if he had known that Jimmy would have never walked again and probably not have breathed again

Adrian Street wrestled at a few shows in my hometown (a small city in Alabama) in late 80s-early 90s. Before the shows started Adrian Street would sit in the crowd talking to everyone. I witnessed him have a conversation with a couple fans about wanting to buy a lawn mower.

"Hey, never mind Adrian, Mrs Linda would whoop your ass". He went on to explain that something happens and there is basically a riot the fan started hitting the ring and she was the first one kicking the crap out of any fan that try to come in the ring near her

@@RobwLPOC Yep she also ran a tropical fish shop near where I grew up, so I got to meet her once. Although she and Adriran were in the US most of the time she still owned the shop till the late 90s. It was actually how they met, he liked tropical fish and was wrestling at a venue within walking distance of her shop so he popped in!

Yes, when I first started watching wrestling in Louisville, KY Adrian with Cornette were among the first wrestlers I saw. They had Adrian teaming with Jesse Barr for some reason, talk about an odd couple, with Cornette being regularly chased around the arena by Dutch Mantell and his bullwhip.

Adrian and Linda owns a company that designs and manufactures wrestling tights and gear in Pensacola, FL. Dude is still built like a brick shithouse. One of the nicest dudes I ever met. He autographed my Adrian Street and the Piledrivers 12" LP.
@Djarra
@Djarra 4 жыл бұрын
He did Cactus Jack's ring gear, the original Mankind mask and Dude Love's gear for Foley. A bunch of tights for Sting in his surfer gimmick, then the black and white for both Crow Sting and the subtlety different variation for nWo Sting as well as the steam punk version from TNA. Plus a lot of Randy Savages stuff. He did the corset thing Vampiro had for a shirt while, although that wasn't his choice.

I remember watching Adrian Street in the early 1970's, before he moved to America. He wrestled a lot as a tag team with Bobby Barnes, who was almost as flamboyant as he was. Then in 1982, I was on holiday visiting relatives in Illinois, watching wrestling on TV and there was Exotic Adrian Street! Great to see him again.

I'm guessing as, while Adonis didn't own that gimmick like Adrian Street did, he wrestled in a much more "WWF US" style. Most of the WWF wresters who would have been able to work well with Street at the time were in tag teams (Davey Boy Smith, Dynamite Kid, Bret Hart, Greg Valentine etc.). The World of Sport style that Adrian used a lot was pretty alien to the US style at the time. I'm guessing that's why Jim mentions that Dundee was a great opponent as he knew the style...Australian wrestling at the time was much more influenced by the British style than the US.

Dude, Nevermind Adrian Adonis, look up the picture of Adrian after winning one title in 1972 standing out side the the top of the mine shaft elevator with his dad. He told them that he would do the photo shoot as long as they did it at 4 right in that very spot so he could basically give a big middle finger to all the guys in the mine who said he would never make it. Once you see that picture, you will know exactly where Goldust came from. He was a blatant rip-off
