well... if every one knows he's Benoit's kid, and there's no hiding it, and the name Chris Benoit Jr. is out; i don't see why he couldn't use some variation on his mother's name/stage name/maiden name or his brother to honor the victims. David Nancy, or David 'Woman' Benoit. Or David Daniel. something... Anything but Chris.. i can't believe he even entertained the idea of using his dad's name. Just thinking of them almost celebrating the name of a killer while ignoring the victims is honestly irritating to me. Just let him wrestle. Be upfront about it. and try to down play his relationship to his father as much as possible.

I agree, somewhat. I LOVED Chris Benoit, but that name is the most tainted in wrestling history. It's not David's fault, and he can still pursue a wrestling career, but if he insists on going under Benoit, and fails because of it, that's on him. Unfortunately for him, he's going to have to make it on his own merits, when other children of Hall of Fame talents get a huge boost by name and training.

You can't go on one woman's opinion, William Regales wife, who cares? What about Vicky Guerrero? Did she say the same thing about him? Look, Benoit was pushed to do an angle with his future wife, Woman', that he was initially against. Think about that, Chris Benoit did not want to do the Kevin Sullivan 'Woman' angle, he was worried about the implications that kind of story would have on his kids. Fuck Regal's wife. Here's my take on it. I support David and I think I understand where he's coming from. He knew his father as his hero and an amazing athlete. That within itself cannot be disputed. However, unfortunately and unfairly for David, society will never be able to separate his father's athletic legacy from the way he died. Unfortunately for David, there's no way he himself could ever be able to circumvent or reconstruct his father's legacy throughout any wrestling career he personally seeks out. If anything, it would probably be more detrimental attempting to use his father's name. David was completely innocent in all of this and I understand his grief and frustration. It's unfortunate that who he knew as his father is not the way the world sees him today. I don't think however, a career in wrestling is the best way to cope and I hope and pray he finds peace in a more appropriate and healthier way. ❤️✌️

If he is 28 years-old, as thin as he is, he won’t be big enough until he is 30-31 at a minimum. He should have been weight training and wrestling since he was a teenager if he wanted to go in that direction. The online photos of him and Chris Jericho show that he is tall enough but too thin and unathletic looking.

No way anyone major will book "Chris Benoit Jr". The name Benoit carries a LOT of negative stigma at this point. So I'd expect he'd need to find another name. Maybe Arn can give him permission to become yet another Anderson; then he can tag with CW Anderson in the NWA, form a new Wrecking Crew. WWE most likely will not sign David Benoit at all, and Chris Jericho is on record as trying to block David from entering the business, so AEW is out, and likely NJPW as well. So he'd have to try for MLW, ROH, Impact, or NWA or some similar mid tier national.

I also think he'd carry the stigma of having to be booked as a face everywhere because having him called by a different name won't matter, and him acting like a heel would drum up his father in the audience's mind. Not just that but also murdered a special needs son. David can't look at it the same way everyone does. David doesnt look at the situation as the only reason he is alive because he wasnt over at his dad's house at the time. He could and definitely will get signed by independents and maybe even AEW without having much experience or dues paid, but to become the face of a company, or sign with WWE will most likely be incredibly difficult. He should use his own name. He can't redeem his father, but he doesn't need to nor shouldn't have to bear that burden. He was a victim, would have been killed too had he been there, he was blackballed by the WWE when he needed love and supoort the most, and he was put to pasture because of his father's actions. He should use his own name, and KEEP the Benoit last name when he wrestles. He could redeem his family name and become a beautiful story about a son overcoming the burden placed on him by his father's actions. But using his father's full name is not right for him or the business. Chris Benoit is irredeemable, but DAVID BENOIT is innocent.

Wow! Is there a more divisive subject in wrestling? Even among his old fans. He was tied for my second all time favorite when it happened. Now I find myself in the same camp as New Jack of all people. To me the man killed his wife, his kid, his legacy and committed suicide. With wrestling being wrestling. Legacy might be the most important thing. I can't tell you how many champs Jim managed over years. I just know he was one of the best. And I wanted to see him catch a beating on a regular basis. Far as this young man is concerned. I actually respect the hell out of him for wanting to redeem his father's name and you can't blame the son for the sins of the father. Except this is wrestling. We all know people who have earned a living based on the names of their father. So it would be foolish to expect it to be handled any different, if the name is a hindrance.

@john bush 100% in agreement. In fact....he might be right in using the name. Even in the old days he would have to change the name and wear a mask to get completely away from comparisons. Now in the internet era....he might have no other option. Just own it. I think the non fans will be his biggest roadblock for getting work.

Bruiser Brody is a lot darker

@@Blackhawk211 have to disagree. Weren't any children involved when Brody was murdered. I think for the most part. Everyone kind of agrees on his murder and the (alleged) cover up. Anyway it's not the darkness level that divides the fans. Its how he should be looked back upon. As big of a fan as I was. I can't watch his stuff. While the other side have placed the blame on a medical issue he had no control over. This is one "wrestling issue". That I can compare to the big "real world" issues. Because whoever losses or is losing the debate has valid arguments.

@@deadaccount7520 the event itself is darker in the benoit story but there is something eerie and creepy about everything that led up to Brody's death. Warning Tony Atlas that he would be next. Another one is the mass transit incident

@@Blackhawk211 okay I gotcha no disrupting that. From what I understand they had a tough time bringing in international wrestlers after that. For good reason. The mass transit thing...everything that could be wrong was. Kid felt like he was a wrestler. I think his dad even lied about his age. But I think I heard that from Heyman.....so take that with a grain of salt. Last but certainly not least New Jack. If you told me it was on Friday the 13th I would not be surprised. lol
