Dante definitely benefitted from Darius being out. I actually really thought they should do something to get Darius over when he came back because at that point it was kind of like "who the fuck is this guy?", but maybe now we'll see what he can do directly. Dante will definitely be out for a while.

I disagree. The only reason for someone like Dante Martin to exist is to destroy his health for my amusement. Fuck his wellbeing. If Dante Martin wasn't a professional crash test dummy, he wouldn't be anything at all. Not to single out Dante Martin. This goes for all of them. Wrestlers are meant to die young or be disabled at an early age. That's literally their job.

It’s a shame the guys & company aren’t smarter. Every show it seems like someone does something incredibly risky but nobody remembers it 2 weeks later and aew does a terrible job pushing these daredevil acts after the fact. The hell in the cell in 98 with Taker & Mankind was so special because nobody had done anything like that in wwf and it wasn’t done every week. I wonder if these guys think that big spots will improve their standing as a wrestler. Like nobody gives a shit that you can do a flip. What people care about is character. Making sure that you're living your gimmick and that your gimmick is good is entirely more important than doing stupid shit like this and getting hurt. The saddest part is that Dante will still be pretty much nobody when he comes back. This doesn't make him cooler, it just exemplifies that he's foolish for taking a spot like that. Spots are exactly what they're named after, they only last for a moment in people's minds. Characters last forever.

I chose not being a wrestler, and that worked out just fine. Granted, a friend of mine chose wrestler, and I'm glad he managed to last five years without getting injured before realizing the business wasn't the one he fell in love with and left. I'd have loved to have been proven wrong, with like five viable wrestling companies being established in the US, with well worked matches, well promoted shows, strong booking, a union, health insurance, doing better ratings than football et. all, but sometimes it pays to be cynical.

The problem is that they've now created an environment where a lot of (their) fans no longer consider these bumps unnecessary and won't accept a match/show without them. That makes it something that would be difficult to dial back even if they did want to. Once they establish an expectation, no matter how unrealistic or foolish it may be, it's almost impossible to not deliver on that expectation without a backlash from their audience.

there were matches in AEW that were just real wrestling and not the monkey spot fests, such as when CM Punk, MJF or like FTR worked and the fans always enjoyed it incredibly. because Real wrestling gets over. more over than anything else and to the widest possible audience. it is the only thing that Truely makes someone feel. like recently MJF and Daniel Bryan had the fans in the palm of their hand and all they did was Real wrestling. spots cant accomplish all that. i think if everything in AEW was suddenly just real wrestling not only would the show flourish but we would see that the fans like it far more than random spot fests. because when a TRUE wrestling match is going on infront of you, no matter how hard oyu try not to care, you Will care. and you Will get immersed, as long as the match is good, done by professionals.

This all happened on 2012 so I know medical science has advanced but I would be surprised if it’s changed that much. The most compelling matches on the show were Claudio-Kingston and Samoa Joe-Mark Briscoe. There were minimal risks and the crowd was engaged. The ladder match was full of needlessly high risk maneuvers and the crowd didn’t appear to very responsive. I had an ominous feeling from the start of the match. I don’t understand how they can allow these guys to attempt these dangerous spots. I looked away when I realized what Penta and Dante were attempting. Hopefully someone will put an end to this. They attempted a Canadian destroyer off a bridged ladder onto four tables. Someone could’ve died.

How many injuries has Rey Mysterio caused and/or had in his 30yr career I wonder? When someone dies in an AEW ring (and as Brian said, ROH is the same company), that's the wrestling business. You'll be amazed at how many "fans" are saying they are ok with this spot, because, as far as they can see, it's either you have spots like this, or we go back to "boring" matches from back in the early 80s. They can literally see no middle ground between a Canadian destroyer off a ladder on to four tables and a match with no high spots in it. They'll actually say if you didn't like, or hated, this spot; "what, don't you want any table spots, like in the 80s?" or "so no dives of the top rope, like in the 80s?". I'm literally sitting their telling them "how about no spots that amount to attempted murder? How about we don't throw money at wrestlers to kill themselves?". It's amazing how many fans think you have to have spots like this otherwise the match is boring, and there's no middle ground between piss-break matches and this crap.

I had a bad feeling about a few of the setups in this match and was thinking something is bound to go wrong if they keep doing stupid, dangerous, UNNECESSARY spots... then both Dante and Penta start precariously moving into position for that destroyer spot and I'm done at that point. Shame they went through with it. I enjoy Dante and Darius in singles and tag - they'll end up not having any sort of fulfilled career if they are placed into these situations. Health and career first. It's not worth satisfying the minority of hardcore bump fans for a move that can end (and has ended) careers early. Why risk your livelihood?!

For every Jesse Sorensen or Perro Aguayo Jr. who get injured in legit freak accidents there are ten times the Nick Mondo, Sammy Guevara, and hate to state it, New Jack types doing things they had no business trying in the first place. Truth is a snap mare or chin lock can snap your neck, but those things can easily be controlled. Willie Hobbs on the wobbly ladder reaching for something that took his full height was in the realm of things not under control, and what has the company learned from that?

Imo, it's kind of screwed up that it's one of the Lucha Bros that gave him this ridiculous move. It wasn't too long ago that Rey Fenix snapped his arm in half in a similar fashion by taking a power bomb from the ring apron, to the outside of the ring and through a table. Now they go and do something that looks even worse to Dante Martin by upping the anti to standing on ladders and doing a similar stunt. If anyone should have known not to try this, it should have been the Lucha Bros after how Rey's arm was folded in half.
