I used to read newspaper blurbs about police reports for fun. There were always some horrific bar stories where people get mutilated. Especially after MMA took hold. People didn't just try to knock one another out in bar fights, they were trying to break bones with submissions. Other times people would just pull a gun and shoot at someone, but miss and hit other people.

I had lunch with Jake Roberts once, and he told me a story about Jimmy Jack Funk getting his eyeball knocked loose and Haku had to put it back in for him. I don't know if that's the story your friend is getting confused with :) I think he was concussed as well, which might be a good thing. If I had my eye out I think I'd prefer to not really know what was going on.

The Watts story reminds me of tales Wild Bill Hickock used to spin. He's tell a story of being chased by Indians and the story gets more and more tense by the second. And finally he's get to where they have him surrounded and then he's pause. The listeners would blurt out "Well what happened next, Wild Bill?" and he'd say "Well, they killed me!" and let out a big laugh to his marks.

No offense, but Jim even *implying* that Nia Jax could win in a legit fight with Rousey just because she's big and Samoan, is like saying Rikishi could have beaten up Shamrock or Severn during the Attitude Era - absolutely laughable. The trained professional MMA champion is ALWAYS going to win against a tough pro wrestler with no professional fighting experience. Rousey would absolutely kill Nia Jax in a real fight.

Fundamental difference between Rousey and Severn. There wasn't a significant size difference if Rikishi fought Severn. Severn has also shown the ability to not care whether he hurt someone, and that made him dangerous as hell. What made someone like Severn or Shamrock difficult was that they could fight any which way and they were STRONG AS HELL. Rousey isn't strong like that, there's a significant size difference, and Rousey has shown herself to not be nearly that kind of tough. Remember, Rousey isn't a freak like Cyborg. Rousey was an MMA fighter that only did one thing well. In a true street fight, that isn't going to work. All Jax would have to do is use her superior size and strength to her advantage, while avoiding the arm bar. This reminds me of when dumbasses thought Rousey could beat Mayweather in any kind of fight. Rousey isn't ragdolling anyone outside of the tomato cans UFC lined up for her. That is, until Holly Holm beat the crap out of her.

No there is big difference between mma fight and real life fight. When you have mma you train for that fight for months and you know exactly when and where it is street fight might happen out of no where when you are drunk, injured or cocky. There is video where some dude drops Bj Penn who don't even have his hands up. Sure mma fighter is VERY likely to win but things can happen.

To anyone who's had to play contact sport and played contact sport against Pacific islanders - specifically, Fijians, Tongans and Samoans - you go in for a tackle and you realise you're hitting a tree, even if they look the same size as most gym lifting bigger players, normally those bigger players are big because they're up to their necks in creatine. Not to say that you won't come across players of other ethnicities (e.g. Caucasians) who are also built like trees but it's far less likely than when playing Polynesians, unless you're playing at a really high level. Also not saying that the creatine heads are weak but they're still reasonably easy to tackle compared to your average Polynesian who looks the same size.

Size between two professional fighters can make a difference but not as much as everyone thinks. Cain Velasquez wasn't the size of a Brock Lesnar and look at how that went. Nia Jax being of Samoan decent doesn't mean anything against a trained fighter like RR. That's just a fact.

I only watched a few minutes into this video so far, but if Cornette somehow sees this comment, Jim you got to look up Bob Sapp vs Antonio Nogueira. It was an old school MMA fight with not too many rules (no eye pokes or low blows) and a huge Bob Sapp beat the shit out of Nogueira, yet Nogueira hung in there and won the fight. I love Jim Cornett‘s views on wrestling but this is one area that he’s wrong. As a black belt in Brazilian jujitsu and mixed martial arts instructor, I will tell you Cornette is an absolute mark for wrestlers. The mixed martial arts fighter wins 99 times out of 100. Jim Cornette is a giant mark for pro wrestling. It is embarrassing to me as a fan of pro wrestling. Brock would kill Haku, Ronda would kill Nia. The idea that two fat, unathletic, untrained play wrestlers who are known to stiff their play wrestler opponents could beat in a hand to hand fight two highly accomplished, verifiably credentialed real fighters is laughable.
