My theory is Jeff Hardy was working WWE like Brian Pillman worked WCW. Jeff wanted to leave and reunite with his brother at AEW. Considering his history with substance abuse, the mere appearance would be enough to trigger the rehab ultimatum. My guess is Jeff thought this was easiest way to get released "clean" and join his brother.

I thought the same thing. It was around the same time former producer Freddie Prinze Jr. basically said WWE regretted putting the top title on him because he couldn’t stay clean. During that time, you could see other reports claiming “WWE would not push Jeff Hardy to a world championship victory again” for that same reason. On the other hand, Jeff had made his motivations crystal clear when he signed with the company: wrestle with his brother and win the tag titles again, have “No More Words” as his theme when his eventual singles run happened, and carry the WWE Championship for the final time in his career.

I absolutely love Jeff. He was my John Cena when I was a kid. I was amazed by his high flying Spiderman esque moveset. Now he's older, the arial and chemical risks have caught up to Jeff, he can't move nearly like he could 10 years ago. Everytime he does a Swanton Bomb, it looks like Jeff is broken in half. Head injuries affect everybody differently. I’ve heard enough “shoot” interviews from people who had concussions, whether it be wrestling football or whatever your mind goes to mush & you may not even have a clue where you are or anything that’s happened recently. With the amount of money WWE has, if their talent has substance issues, they most likely gave him a test that detects alcohol too. I've seen many people get in trouble with their P.O. because alcohol was detected in their drug tests, and those are county/state funded tests. WWE has the money to get the "top tier" tests. As much as Jeff has disappointed me with his spells, I believe it was just exhaustion and frustration. Matt said the Jeff had a death within his family circle with zero time to process, drove 300 miles to the show. Regardless of what shape you're in physically, stuff like that can break a person. Jeff seems like a very emotional person, he seemed to take the gamble of walking over idling or potentially hurting someone in case he was used again in the match. I could be very wrong, I'm kind of waiting to see what Jeff says in March. WWE likes to bury their releases, ie; Keith Lee and Bray Wyatt. It's blatant blacklisting attempts.

Didn't I say it back then. He did just want to leave. Everyone said to me no no he was fired because of this and that. I knew it. But tbh it shouldn't matter if he was on the influence of anything he still should not have left the ring and made his team mates look like fools and the fans had no idea what was going on. He still should have been fired for acting like a tool. Idk how any one who runs a company would allow your employee to not do their job run a muck during a live match. I would have fired him to. Sure he is great but who in the hell would put up with constant bullshit from this guy.

Ehhhhhhhhh. Come on now. I’m supposed to believe JC would be ok with a talent wandering off mid-match at a house show. The man that collared a guy for not moving out of the way of The Boogeyman fast enough during a crowd exit? I’m not buying it guys. Want to know what I suspect it was? I bet Jeff’s been around long enough to know how they were going to react to him doing that. Sounds like maybe he regretted re-signing and went ahead and instigated a situation where he could get his release.

To me it looks like he planned all this out and I know everyone loves Jeff and hates WWE, but I can't say anytime good about him if that's what he did. Don't like Ben Simmons and don't like Antonio Brown forcing the hands of their employers so I don't like this if it's all a sham.
