Sadly, because there's no territories where the wrestlers ,(after wrestling school with the ol'school wrestlers from the 50s & 60s {Terry Bolea aka Hulk Hogan learned after the wrestler teaching got tired of Hogan's attitude & broke his leg "Come back when you figure this out"{the cleanest way I could put what was said to Terry}), could learn to polish their skills,(Persona, Wrestling, Business etc), across the country.

It will be reborn when Vince dies or gets slapped with an anti-trust lawsuit or labor organization effort and it's not worth all the trouble anymore. Then it will be a scramble for talent and all the sudden there's competition again. It's cyclical. And like the banks and companies that screw us all over, WWE became too big to fail. They'll get broken up in 10 or 20 years.

@@markoutwithmark, it's starting to change. This virus shit is choking the life out of WWE. AEW is actually featuring crowds. The only PC shit I see on their promotion, and a sore spot for the business overall, is Nyla dominating the women's division. This could get twisted to be a grand feature, if they can do this right.

On a holiday I could see myself going to a wrestling show if it was truly local, in that it's at a local hall or hockey arena that's a short drive from my house. But something like the WWE would do a show at an NHL/NBA arena which means I have to go to the closest major city. That's only an hour away but that's still a bit of a hassle with all the traffic and such. The effort to get to the show would kill the impulse buy that would be necessary for me to go somewhere on a holiday where I already have plans for earlier in the day. Now an indy could do the smaller local venue but that has no star power. In the territory days you would probably get something more local and it would have the big stars that you saw on TV. Though Christmas and Thanksgiving are much busier holidays than something like the 4th of July or Labor Day. Those are really just days off work for a lot of people so why not put a wrestling show on those days?

I wish Jim was this enjoyable to listen to today. He readily admits that its impossible today and even gives good reasons why without going on a tirade that makes no sense and has nothing to do with it. He isn't screaming or saying stupid shit. He's just talking about wrestling history. I loved these episodes. He even sounds happy.. I hate the new episodes. Even when he gets away from the modern wrestling ranting on the new episodes to talk a little history, he still sounds miserable and randomly circles back to get in an extra rant for the audience. It's mostly the fans who are to blame. They feed on this stupid shit and they like the toxicity so he plays it up.

People born after 1980 don't understand that the world back then was REGIONAL, not national. TV was broadcast and there were 4 channels. 100 miles was a long way to travel and many highways were two lane and passed through every town. People who want to understand that era need to know that drawing 5000 people has to be considered in light of how many people live within 20 miles or so. A crowd of 5000 in a market of 100,000 is a bigger deal than a crowd of 20,000 in a market of a million.

Well that's OK, because I still have a big card on Thanksgiving with my NWA tabletop wrestling game. Take last night which was Thanksgiving 2020, my big PPV was Locked In The Rock where Ric Flair won over Chris Benoit. Plus it marked the return of Steve Austin MONSTER TRUCK n all. Two titles changed hands & the next big card will be on Christmas night with Gloom In The Doom the return of the triple steel cage TOWER OF DOOM!!! And in between now & then will be plenty of house shows & NWA shows on WTBS on the weekends just like old times & of course all the non stop touring. Mix in a world tour at the start of the new year & the return of the Jim Crockett Cup tag team tournament & add my wrestling game forum where we all can post at & we have all the ingredients of some old school rassling just the way we all remember it & it'll be like old times! And as for my NWA talent roster put it this way, I have EVERYBODY. Even Bobo Brazil. I'm the boss & I'll have & sign anybody I want so there! lol Been on this non stop tour now for some 36 years & it never gets old. Hell, I'm getting started. See ya on tour!!! Or on my forum!!!

Meltzer released a free article on this same subject. Meltzer might be shitty in terms of opinion and "news" but his historical stuff is really interesting: www.f4wonline.com/other-wrestling/history-pro-wrestling-thanksgiving-dave-meltzer-326076?.it& Interestingly enough, football took over as the Thanksgiving Day sporting event. I'm sure wrestling could get SOME people to come out for a show (or get people to watch the show on TV) but you're competing with NFL and Black Friday prepations for Christmas. Very different world.
