Cornett himself was comedic in nature because of how over the top he was as a manager, but when his boys were winning it was insufferable, and when he was getting his comeuppance it was both hilarious and an exercise of justice. You either were incensed at him laughing at you, or you were laughing at him. Not the same as the "it's all silly" comedic wrestlers intended.

He was great at making these stunned reactions of the face getting over on him. Kikutaro / Ebessan is legendary. He wrestled in ROH. I guess Jim missed him during events.

So did 90% of wrestling fans... nobody watched that
@erikprestonTV3 жыл бұрын
@@emptygee5882 Right. But you're just a rando mark. Jim worked for ROH at various points in the 2000's. Kikutaro / Ebessan was a Japanese attraction during that period. Just odd Jim doesn't remember seeing him ever.

Toru Yano is #1 easy. that guy is just a genius. allegedly a serious athlete too, atleast in his younger days.
@dolandarkxgrandayy69533 жыл бұрын
Yano and Truth are smart in the sense that they figured that they could be serious and flounder or be HaHa and make tons of money while taking less bumps.
@valitsemllaluokanavahyvaks35563 жыл бұрын
Yeah yano was a great amateur wrestler i think.
@obsanity3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. In a company known for bravery and amazing long term storytelling, Yano's a fat guy who is scared to get hit, doesn't want to be in the ring, has zero honor or bravery, but seems to actually have a winning record due to constantly having tricks down his pants (or under the ring).
@botchamaniajeezus3 жыл бұрын
@@obsanity exactly, plus its how id expect someone of his portrayal to fight. and hes hilarious on top it. theres a reason suzuki is still seen as a badass even tho hes never defeated someone like yano.

Serious wrestlers turn to comedy wrestling to extend their career. Chain saw charlie, ric flair, jimmy valient, dusty rhodes all incorporated more comedy skits in their 50's

For those of you who skip the advertising segments, the very end is the best part of this. I would have never had Corny pegged as a Pet Shop Boys fan.

Les Kellett was a lot more than a comedy wrestler. He was as tough as Harley Race. He was kind of like a British Terry Funk with his mannerisms and staggering
