I don't think Vince had any combat training to make him fight tough but he is definitely a physically tough guy just like Foley, I've seen them both take more damage than any of the legit tough guys. When Vince blew his quads and no sold it it was amazing, at the time you knew he was hurt but not the extent and he just sat there looking more pissed off than hurt, when Zach Gowan opened him up badly he took it like Kratos. What a tough bastard

I remember being really disillusioned with the game after this event. I loved Nailz, he was a great character, he had so much potential to take the game up a couple of notches - and that was all squandered by such a stupid technicality as a workplace dispute. Too many of the better characters were being squandered / homogenized. I realise in Nailz'z case he did play an active part in his own dismissal but I'd still come down on his side considering Vince had ultimate oversight and should have assuaged the dispute before it went that far.

I remember a particular weekend Superstars of Wrestling episode where Nailz wrestled, destroyed his opponent and then just stood in the ring, glaring maniacally. Then the Undertaker's ominous bell sounded and the crowd erupted. I was thrilled! But, I don't remember anything after that. Maybe they ran outta time. Does this ring a bell (pun intended)?

Just like the best hand to hand combat training anyone ever got at West Point was by getting stretched by wrestling champion Tom Jenkins. I was in the army in the 90s and I've done martial arts as well I can assure you until they built the army/marine combative programs around a Brazilian jiu-jitsu base in the late 90s early 2000s the existing training was mediocre at best. They weren't even doing the original combatives program they used beginning in WWII formulated by Sykes/Fairbairn in England and added to by Colonel Applegate in the US armed forces, which was actually effective in combat use. So much so the nazis developed a habd to hand program to counter it.
