Went back and watched SMW from 92. From lame promos to coming off as so whiny when he stole the SMW Title to his attempt to be a singer, Tim Horner was the worst babyface in the industry at the time. It takes a talent (in a bad way) to be a babyface in a southern territory and be greeted with silence from crowds who would cheer for almost any babyface. The angle with the special needs child was even worse than Jim described as Horner came off like a crybaby and it felt exploitative of the kid. Its a miracle Bob Armstrong was as over as he was and the fans didn’t buy into Horner because the angle could have buried Bob. This should have won the tasteless angle award in the Wrestling Observer that year.

Seriously this is great for falling asleep, not because it's boring but because Jim's story telling is exceptional and his hatred is pure.

Smokey Mountain was actually my favorite. It felt local with what I saw as huge stars from Atlanta

I'm from Buffalo NY and we used to get SMW on one of our local channels, at the same time ECW was on and I preferred SMW. I'd always wished I could have been a wrestler or help I'm booking. I'll tell you all I'd have killed to work with/for J.C. and try to learn all I could from him and the guys in the back.

Rand-McNally is nice. Most people will go "Get in the 21st century Jim, Google Maps will show you where you need to go and where you are now, Siri is much better!". True, but Rand-McNally doesn't require batteries. My Galaxy pad does so much more but when the battery goes to 0 it's just a paper-weight.
@DefLeppardVanHalen3 жыл бұрын
That's right. It's better to have it as a backup, just in case your batteries go dead.

Jim Cornette's greatest mistake was not letting Paul Orndorff finish the job. As is well known, Orndorff was brought in as a pile driver specialist to get the move over. On of his favorite targets was Tim Horner. Orndorff should have used that move week after week on Horner. Also Commissioner Bob Armstrong should gone on TV blabbering about some court injunction which required SMW TV to broadcast footage Mr Orndorff executing the piledriver on Tim Horner every week. That's how you get the piledriver over.

Living in Knoxville, if I would have known how wrestling would have changed in mid to late 90s, I would have gone to every smokey mountain show! I believe I went to 16 smw cards. However, I missed so much!

Tim Horner and Terry Taylor had the same problem. They could have a good match, but their talents didn't extend much beyond that.

If Terry had been pushed as a heel in the WWF with Heenan as his manager and NOT been called The Red Rooster then he might've had a shot.
