Jim’s stand up translates so well to talk show television
@christianfinkbeiner684 Жыл бұрын
It does. Many comedians' acts are not funny in talk show interviews. His is great.

Ee, but especially when he can perform his routine sitting down and otherwise portraying a talk show guest.

Jim is just repeating jokes from his standup routines. Finding this out about comedians. They’re no funnier than anyone else, they just have a huge arsenal of funny jokes they tell over and over again. I heard all of these jokes on his specials.

I remember the day this episode aired. It had been a very hard day and this interview was a nice end for the night.

Baby Kale with a Caesar dressing using avocado oil is incredibly tasty. I had it first time at Hillstone restaurant and it was the best part of their pork chop dinner. Easily.

Watching old interviews of comedians makes me realize that 50% of the time that things they say are just reworded jokes from their stand-ups. It's also of note that some actors etc.. just say the same thing over and over during a press junket. You can splice together old footage of even Robin Williams re-telling the same joke in five different interviews for some movie of other.
@speedyboris2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, as funny as this material is, you can hear 90% of it in Jim Gaffigan: Obsessed. It reminds me of when Bob Hope would be on Carson's Tonight Show and Johnny would basically just be there to feed Hope starters for his jokes. It doesn't feel spontaneous.
@gerardoayala81242 жыл бұрын
It's just part of the job. Plus, back in the day people would probably only catch one show, so there was almost a reason to do the same stuff several times. That's why it's so great when things go completely off the rails with some guests, or when Conan actually talks to people for an hour on his podcast.
@MJ.unplugged2 жыл бұрын
I really hate it when they do that..unless they call it out explicitly..."i do this bit...

I mean, try coming up with new material for each of dozens of interviews during a press junket. I'm not interesting enough to have more than one interesting anecdote.

It’s all rehearsed. It’s all an ad for the comedian’s standup act. All of late night tv is promotion.
