If all he had done was given Kermit a voice that would have been enough. But, he gave so much more.

I was 10..... Too old for Sesame Street (I still watched it though)..... And the muppet show was off the air.....we were at that funny age. Not quite a teenager but too old for kiddy stuff, An awkward age and when he died it felt like so much of my childhood went with it. I'm glad his legacy and vision lives on. My children love the muppet movies old and new and I also love that the muppet show is back. It's nice to have a show I can watch with my children. Ps. I have such fond memories of sesame place.

So very very sad. And why? Because Jim brought with Kermit and the other Muppets so much joy and laughter in this world. And yet he managed to bring us emotional and touching moments. Like this song. A song that is so deep that it reaches almost evereyone. Not just the ones who grew up with it (or the Muppet Show for that matter). I was born 1993 in germany. The Muppet Show wasn't in TV anymore. I didn't grew up with the show. But I discovered it in my late teens. And it is just awesome.

I did not grow up on Muppets and barley watched sesame Street as a kid and the most I've had with the Muppets is watching the 2011 movie over and over and I still cried when big bird sang at the service

I’ve always said this is the one song that I want played at my funeral. It’s always meant so much to me since I was a little girl. It always puts me in tears.

So glad I was a child when Jim Henson was at the top of his game... He was a very special man. This was such a beautiful tribute to him. I have seen it a bunch of times and cry every time.

Henson would still be alive today if he went to the doctor right away. He eventually did go, but it was too late. He had symptoms but refused to go

@@SkyRaw04 he was a Christian scientist, which is a religion that doesn't believe in the practise of medicine unless it's absolutely necessary.

He thought it was just a cold until he started having serious symptoms. Either way it doesn't matter. What matters is what he left behind

He was raised in a Christian Scientist household, but was not one himself as an adult. He was a workaholic. He was at least partially reluctant to go to the doctor because he just wanted to keep working. And he didn't think it was something serious.

My grandfather, may God rest his soul, was the same. Men of that generation were like that, too reluctant to get help when they needed it.
