I was actually on school trip to Sesame Place the day he died. I came home and my sister told me that he died. I was 11 when he died but it felt like my childhood was over right then.

I was 10..... Too old for Sesame Street (I still watched it though)..... And the muppet show was off the air.....we were at that funny age. Not quite a teenager but too old for kiddy stuff, An awkward age and when he died it felt like so much of my childhood went with it. I'm glad his legacy and vision lives on. My children love the muppet movies old and new and I also love that the muppet show is back. It's nice to have a show I can watch with my children. Ps. I have such fond memories of sesame place.

I had just turned 13 on May 14th, and he died on May 16th. I never knew how my heart would break... as young of a teenager as I could be. I remember the pain like it was yesterday and I still cry over it. He was an extraordinary talent and phenomenal human being.

Paul Williams said in an interview that Jim was having trouble getting the vocal track just right, so Paul told him to go get Kermit and have him sing it. And that take worked perfectly.

This song was played immediately after Frank Oz's touching and emotional tribute to Jim. I became choked up when this song started playing because it caused me to remember the first time my mother showed me the beginning of "The Muppet Movie and "Kermit" sang this song. Jim was a wonderful man indeed!

I was only 1.5 when he passed away. My grandmother is a huge Jim Henson fan so I grew up watching reruns of the Muppet Show and of course Sesame Street. He taught me many lessons and he is responsible for lots of my childhood memories. I respect him a lot.

I was 5 years old when he died, and at the time I was in the habit of watching a VHS of the Muppet Family Christmas TV special nonstop, probably driving my parents crazy. I still remember them sitting me down to explain what it meant that he died. I was absolutely shook - not only was that my first taste of my own mortality, I thought all the Muppets were going to die too.

So very very sad. And why? Because Jim brought with Kermit and the other Muppets so much joy and laughter in this world. And yet he managed to bring us emotional and touching moments. Like this song. A song that is so deep that it reaches almost evereyone. Not just the ones who grew up with it (or the Muppet Show for that matter). I was born 1993 in germany. The Muppet Show wasn't in TV anymore. I didn't grew up with the show. But I discovered it in my late teens. And it is just awesome.

I had random songs playing on Amazon music, and Sarah McLaughlin's version of this came on. I didn't even remember how or where I knew it from, but began literally sobbing. I remember watching this service when I was 5. I still miss Jim. The epic rap battle with him and Stan Lee was even enough to move me to tears.

I'm a small time soloist/singer/performer and I sometimes sing this song in Kermit's voice. I was born years after Mr Henson passed, but have always fallen in love with everything he did. I cried when Dark Crystal:AOR came out only because I wish he was around to see his world come to life like it has now. I have to keep from crying whenever I sing this song because all I can think about is the immense talent, heart, and love this man had. Fly high Jim, rest easy. People are still making your dreams come true.

Jim Henson was a genius. He touched our hearts with the Muppets. I was already pretty much grown when they started but I watched them whenever I could. My mom and dad and I always watched the Muppet Show and enjoyed it very much. To see my parents laughing was so special. RIP Mommy and Daddy. I remember when my mother took my brother and I to see the muppet movie in 2011 (the one with Amy Adams.) When they started singing this in the movie, I looked over to see my mom wiping her eyes and quietly singing along. Since then, every time I hear this, I think of that day, and how much that song has meant to both of us.

He was raised in a Christian Scientist household, but was not one himself as an adult. He was a workaholic. He was at least partially reluctant to go to the doctor because he just wanted to keep working. And he didn't think it was something serious.
