If you love your country so much you wouldn't wanna change allegiance and let go of your citizenship. To become an American citizen you would have to let go of your Aussie citizenship. It's American law. Rupert Murdoch did that. In the past 10 years many have taken up American citizenship like David Coverdale (Whitesnake), Jon Anderson (Yes), John Taylor (Duran Duran) etc. they wouldn't do that unless they really see America as home. The same with Jefferies. The truth is that someone as carefree and rebellious as Jefferies would fit in more in America because American culture allows you to be who you want to be more than Aussie culture. In other words there is more freedom and hence more options as to what you do or say or how to behave.
