Thank You for sharing this interview. Mr. Jim Kelly was a true martial artist and a gentleman until the very end. Just this year ( January 2015) I began training in Goshin Ryu Karate which is a hybrid style composed of four different styles of Okinawaian Karate and stuff from Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and Aikido, plus Okinawaian Weaponry(aka Kubudo). RIP Mr. Kelly and thank you for all you have given the martial arts world.

Jim was a man of integrity, who gave Bruce his proper due, unlike Chuck, who lied in order to appear. better than Bruce. Above martial arts, Bruce emphasized to express yourself honestly, which Jim did, while Chuck honestly lied.

Glad to see Jim doing so well. 2 of my favorite scenes in Enter the Dragon was the fight with the cops in the alley were Jim kicked their butts and took their patrol car to the airport and the part were Jim and John Saxon were setting this guy up on bets. Great interview by the interviewer.

Great interview Franklin! Loved Jim Kelly in Enter The Dragon to bits so it is good to see him doing this informative interview. Apart form asking sensible questions the best thing an interviewer can do just is let the subject speak. Thats was the style of Parkinson here in the UK. Good luck with future interviews and keep em coming....now what about doing one on Dan Inosanto.

I once had a crush on the talented Mr J Kelly. I loved his humility among other things. But, did you EVER watch The Green Hornet? Bruce Lee starred as the white guy’s (don’t even recall his name) sidekick kato. I had a long time crush on kato whom for many years later I did not know the actor behind the mask was Mr Lee!! I was a little girl so infatuated with whom I believed to be the REAL star of that show. Years later I heard and read of his very troubled and tragic demise☹️

@tonyvalente All Kyokushin sparring allows kicking the head, just not punching. It does make for some bad habits among certain groups, but it is nothing something that makes the style irreversibly bad. That rule was added so that matchest would last longer. The clip you sent me was of my specific kyokushin organization by the way.

@Mr007batman The term was first coined by Dana White - President of the UFC and Bruce's style was not meant for the cage. Regardless of what you agree or disagree with he popularized the martial arts and his "Best style is no style" philosophy more than anyone in history.

@tonyvalente You are correct sir, Oyama was bald and he was Korean. I am assuming you knowledge of him comes primarily from a youtube video of him from when he was 70 or so. In his sixties he did gain some weight because his injuries kept him from training, but pictures and videos of him as a younger man show him as totally ripped. Time magazine even named him the toughest man alive. I really can't argue with you over this topic without sounding childish.

i'm no martial artist and i know NOTHING about UFC. I watched one episode. Thing is, it didn't seem real to me. I mean in full contact mixed martial arts you'd expect people to be bloody and broken within 2 minutes but some of these fights really drag on. Very few of them seem to exhibit any skill anywhere near what i'd expect from the best fighters in the world. It just looks like boxing with some occasional wrestling. where's the rest of the martial arts?
