I’ve never seen a fan base so obsessed and unwilling to let go a players rookie season. Rg3 and tons of other players have shown great rookies years. Ever consider Mac’s rookie year was the outlier? Also, the 2nd half of that season wasn’t that great. What a joke. Mac sucks and the WR’s are just as bad.

I don’t think many people are in Macs camp or don’t want him gone. The only thing I have ever heard is his weapons and line sucks, which is all true. It’s also true Mac is not good too.

His rookie season consisted of checkdown passes and fans were complaining about him not throwing down field. Now that he throws down field , we now know as to why he was mainly throwing checkdowns during his rookie season.

His rookie season he was managed and McDaniels used him well. That 1-4 finish was just as much about the Defense. They were not as good as the stats showed and they struggled against better teams. In a few of those games the offense got them within a score then the D coughed it up again. Bill's way of team building isn't good any more. Just look at the last 4 seasons. 5 even. Brady' s last year was only ok because of him.

Amen Murray, to all of that. The Patriots had the training wheels on Mac his rookie season. Remember they wouldn’t even let him throw down field, or in the end zone? Once they took the training wheels off he fell on his ass like a toddler would. He was never actually good.

I was never sold on Mac. From the beginning his top side was a game manager. He has never one time showed that "flash" of something better. Could he have turned into a game manager on an extremely talented team? Yes, but that was never in Bill's plans. He wanted a running game with a defense circa 1979. So yes the Patriots did him dirty, but he never was going to be the answer anyways.

Murray, I am not afraid to admit I was wrong about Mac Jones. I loved that 2020 Alabama team and foolishly thought it would translate to the league for Mac. I was wrong … he can’t play in the NFL as a starter (maybe not even a backup). So Big Jim you were right and I was wrong. 😢

I legitimately feel bad for Mac. Bill practically ruined his nfl career. I honestly don't think I've ever seen such a trajectory for a young qb in the nfl. How many qbs get drafted and have a great rookie season, hits a pro bowl griddy, and then proceeds to absolutely suck at football?? This has to be Bills fault and there's no other conclusion.. I said it pre draft that Mac wouldn't be a good fit us I thought his ceiling was Kirk Cousins (if you think that's a good thing idk what to tell you). Mac's weak arm and poor mobility were concerning (his 40 time doesn't mean jack). Mac Jones had a DECENT rookie season and fans overhyped it because he beat up on some bad teams for a 2 month stretch he's been bad since the Bills wind game. Patriots need Caleb Williams or at the very least Drake Maye, get the Qb at the top of the draft and then use all our free agency moves to build our OL and outside weapons.
