There's so many ways to interpret this cover, but I choose the repetition and eventual blurring of the notes into one sound-mass to represent the universality of the "Fast Car" story. After a million interlocking repetitions, the tragedy behind this song just turns into a numb background. I'd be curious to see what Tracy Chapman thinks of this.

Music isnt a competition. Our ear-brain systems vary wildly from person to person. Although this is forgettable to you, for many others(myself included), it is a masterpiece. I prefer it over Tracy's by a vast margin, but they are *both* gonna endure. And that's ok.
