Spent my early years in Carthage Tx. My parents & Grandparents would show us kids the sights. It was especially poignant that Jim Reeves dog is next to him. Very glad they honored Jim Reeves Tex and John Ritter by making the Esquire theater into a museum and Auditorium for live entertainment. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you for this. I don't know what your history with Jim is, but he played a significant role in our lives when my father died in 1963 at 43 years old. My mother was consoled as it was possible to be by his vocal presence. I was evidently influenced/aided more than I probably knew. My mother was an empathetic genius. What a voice....He needed no music.....

That man gives me so much comforting a dark minded day when I listen to my favorite song “where do I go from here” , especially the parts he sings “ lead me through the darkness...” feels like he really does.

I am from India .Jim is one of my favorite singers. Thanks for this video for providing more information .But something I noticed at 6:37 - 7:28 on that board erected by Texas Historical Commission , his birth date is written as August 30 1924.Wikipedia and other sources mention it as 20 August 1923.Which one is more correct?

1968, just got out of the navy, driving to texas from norfolk, drove all night, my friend was driving, i was asleep in back seat. have no idea why, but when we passed his memorial, i woke up, saw it and screamed [literally] at my friend to stop. turned around, nobody there but us. walked on hallow ground.

They say when Mary purchased the plot, it was just a dirty mud patch and Jim Reeves brother, O.D., didn't think it would be nice. But Carthage officials worked so quickly to landscape it and plant new trees and turn into the most beautiful. serene setting. Great credit to them.

Sadly according to Larry Jordan's book Jim was woefully short when it came to FLYING his airplane. We will never no how much more fame he would have attained with another 20 yrs of life. Best singer in my lifetime and I'm 74 .
