It always makes me cringe when I hear the phrase “we didn’t know about head injuries what we know now”… It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that taking 20 swinging full force chair shots to the head is incredibly dangerous. It’s truly a miracle that Foley didn’t end up like Benoit

The rock and mick didn't go into business for themselves. The ROCK went into business for HIMSELF. Mick has said multiple times throughout his career he was signaling to rock to hit his back by turning away from rock and lowering his head away from the entrance ramp. Then Rock circles around him like a moron (knowing damn well mick was signaling for a back shot) and yells at mick to turn around. It was obvious mick wanted him to hit his back with the chair not his head especially near the end when he had already let rock hit him multiple times on the head. Rock knew this and he still wanted to take advantage of Mick in order to propel his own persona. Rewatch the UNEDITED match it's all there, yet everyone keeps letting the rock slide even after so many years

@TheFailedmessiah6 ай бұрын
First off. Mick was legit handcuffed. Not kayfabe cuffed with fake cuffs with a hidden release hatch. He just fully absorbed 20 full swing chair shots to the head. Just laying it in. Rock made sure if he was gonna swing a chair. He was gonna really swing it. I remember when he smacked Ken shamrock with one. Ken instructed rock on what to do so he won't get hurt or concussed he's like hit me on the forehead. Lay it in. Now that was just one chair shot. I'm sure mick could take 2 or 3 good shots and be ok. But 20? And they all seemed to get harder and harder progressively. Hard to watch. When stonecold was asked about chair shots to the head. Stonecold said "I'd just get my hands up a bit and not take the full blow to the head" but those unprotected chair shots to the head were popular back then. I remember Kane eating some nasty ones.

Obviously, we didnt know then, what we know now. However, Id be lying if i said I wasnt captivated at the time. Mick really understood his limitations as an athlete, but he loved the business so much, he attempted to make up for his shortcomings at the expense of his own health. The man has passion beyond belief. Ive been fortunate enough to meet several famous guys in the business thanks to the quality of our local comic con. I will tell anyone who wants to hear it, if you ever have a chance to meet Mick, reach in your pocket and take that leap. Nobody else compares. They say, never meet your heroes because theyll dissappoint you. Not Mick. The guy joked with us while he inhaled a whataburger and acted just like one of the guys. Just a phenomenal human being and a kind soul. This is why i dont buy the CTE excuse for Benoit. If anyone had an excuse to go batshit crazy, its Mick and hes the perfect family man and carries himself well. Guys like Rock, HHH and wrestling fans around owe Mic such a debt of gratitude for his hard work and self sacrifice. Looking back, yeah...he did a little too much. But, he did it for us. Ok, Im done putting him over lol

@@nessadvantage9447 I mean there's video out there of Kenny Omega having a match with a 9 year old little girl. Him and Ibushi having matches with a goddamn blowup sex doll, and a match where Omega sticks his fingers in Ibushi's ass right in the middle of the ring, but it's the Rock vs Mankind that should be deleted from existence because it's too real and too brutal? Like, what in the white hot fuck is wrong with people? 🤦🏻♂

Doesn't change that it happened, numbnuts. It would be an insult to what Mick endured, in fact, to erase it. It's a legendary match (not nec. for best reasons) but a great rivalry and great event that will always be rewatchable.

If you're in the entertainment business (music, acting, wrestling, etc) and your goal isn't to make a lasting impression then what is the point? I'm recording my first album and my ultimate goal, my highest hope is leaving a lasting impression on someone that 15 years from now it still means something to them. I don't get saying that as if it's a negative.
